SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Michael Statler of Dexter, principal engineer, received Associated Electric Cooperative’s Employee of the Year Excel award at the cooperative’s recent 28th annual employee recognition award hosted at its Springfield headquarters.

The Excel awards are peer-nominated recognitions of employees who have excelled in their careers, leadership, mentoring, innovation, community services, teamwork or exceptional contributions.

Statler was praised for his work in thermal performance at New Madrid Power Plant and Associated’s nearby gas plants, according to a press release from the cooperative.

The nominator commented, “Mike’s work ethic is second to none. He works tirelessly anytime the job requires it, whether that is long days at the plant or weekends without a word of complaint.”

Statler joined the plant in 1997 following service in the U.S. Marine Corps and graduation from Southern Illinois University with a degree in chemistry. He later earned a master’s degree in business administration through Associated and received a 2008 Excel award as employee of the year in a technical field.
