God has a purpose for each of our lives which is interrelated to His overall purpose for mankind. He is depending upon us to accomplish that purpose. However, He is not wholly dependent upon us. If any one of us fail, or, if one generation or nation fails to accomplish His will, He can always raise up another person or people that will. John the Baptist told the Pharisees and Sadducees, "Think not to say within your selves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham." Matthew 3:9. They thought because they were descendents of Abraham they needed not to repent nor listen to Jesus Christ for salvation. Many people today wear the name Christian and point back to a glorious conversion experience and think they are saved eternally. Those people nevertheless never feel the need to worship God or to support the church. God is depending upon the redeemed to carry the message of salvation to all the world and to be an example in faith, love and devotion to Christ, but, when many fail Him, He is not found dependent upon them. He can always find others to perform His will. The opposite is true with each of us. We are totally dependent upon Him through Christ for salvation.
