The deadline has been extended for entries into the 33rd Annual Pictures by the People, hosted by the Margaret Harwell Art Museum.

Entries will be accepted until 4 p.m. Tuesday, said Steve Whitworth, museum director.

The photography contest is open for residents who live within a 100-mile radius of Poplar Bluff. Entries will be displayed during the month of August at the museum.

A new category has been added this year, for wildlife and nature. The contest also includes a $100 grand prize purchase award, and $50 awards for the following categories: selfie; patriotic award; wildlife; black and white; architecture; and cutest pet.

Cash prize will be given in the adult and junior divisions for overall first, second and third place.

Participants may enter up to three photos. No previous entries allowed.

Photographs should be a minimum size of 8 by 10 inches, with a maximum size of 16 by 20 inches.

There is a $5 entry fee per person for adults and professionals and a $2 entry fee for juniors.

An opening reception/awards presentation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Aug. 1 at the museum. It will include ice cream and refreshments.

The contest is sponsored by Minit Print, with additional funding from the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency.

Entry forms are available on line at www.mham.org, at the museum, Artfully Framed, and Whitworth’s Gift Chest Jewelers.
