Over 50 young ladies were able to dance the night away and create memories with the special men in their lives during the fourth annual Neelyville Daddy Daughter Dance.

Hosted by the Neelyville High School cheerleaders, students in Pre-K through high school were invited to attend the dance.

Money raised from the event and will go toward summer camp for the high school cheerleaders.

"It really is touching to see the dads, grandpas, uncles, whatever the case may be, take the time to spend a special evening with their daughter," high school cheer coach Brandi Lumby said. "It's just crazy how quickly kids grow up and this is something that will stay with them forever."

The NHS gymnasium was transformed into "A Night in Central Park" under enchanted stars, lights, arches and even trees from Hefner Furniture.

The evening began with Grand March, followed by refreshments and dancing. Couples were also treated to caricatures by art student, Trent Kelsey.

Wayne Flannigan, who has attended the dance each year with his daughter, Lily, said he loved spending a night at the dance and how he and his daughter looked forward to the event each year.

Flannigan added the evening was special and thanked the cheerleaders, Lumby and Jennifer Barker for their hard work to make the annual dance possible.

The Daddy Daughter Dance began four years ago from Patricia Truelove's idea as a special event for fathers and daughters to share together.
