The Butler County Community Resource Council (CRC) in connection with numerous other members of the community will be working to get locals jobs at the annual job fair on Thursday.
This is the 22nd annual Butler County Job Fair with employers such as Pepsi, Tyson, Briggs & Stratton, Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center and Missouri Highway Patrol in attendance to talk with potential hires.
“There’s a wide variety of jobs represented,” CRC Executive Director Rebeca Pacheco said.
The annual fall and spring job fairs are organized by the Parents Working Committee, Pacheco said, which is a group of CRC that includes concerned members of the community who come together to work on issues related to employment.
At the fair, potential employers will be able to hand out and accept applications, conduct interviews, distribute literature about what they do, show examples or products and make job offers depending on what they’re looking for.
Along with the potential employers present, Pacheco said the Career Center will also provide education on soft skills, which are some of the main things employers are currently struggling with. Soft skills include communication, teamwork, leadership, problem solving, adaptability and critical observation.
“It’s a well rounded opportunity to not only apply for jobs, but also brush up on soft skills,” Pacheco said.
The fair will be held at Three Rivers College in the Bess Activity Center from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Thursday.
