Greater Poplar Bluff Area Chamber of Commerce President Steve Halter has announced the chamber will hold a $1,200 promotion starting May 1 and running through Memorial Day.
To be eligible to win, you must spend $50 at more at a locally owned business, including restaurants, in Butler County, then post your receipt to the chamber’s Facebook page, being sure to include the dollar amount, location and date of purchase.
Anyone meeting the criteria will be entered in the drawing and the winner will be selected June 1.
“We’re excited to, again, have another promotion to encourage people to spend money in our locally owned businesses,” Halter said.
The promotion is being held in conjunction with the city of Poplar Bluff, the Butler County Commission, Daily American Republic, River Radio and Fox Radio.
Butler County Health Department Director Emily Goodin said there have been no new COVID-19 cases in Butler County since the two positive tests over the weekend, keeping the county’s total at 26. The health department has also been working with area businesses and schools on how to proceed when businesses are allowed to reopen on May 4.
“We’ve been fielding a lot of calls from restaurants about the orders that will be in place on Monday, working with Neelyville schools on graduation, parks and rec on sports, just kind of helping to guide those organizations on what they need to do to make sure their staff and the community are safe,” Goodin said.
Along with area businesses, most Butler County government offices will reopen with normal business hours starting Monday. The courthouse will continue current guidelines until at least May 15.
