The autopsy has been completed on a man who died Saturday morning in the Butler County jail.
Butler County Coroner Andy Moore’s office reported the “autopsy is completed” on Noah Emmerson Burke, 35, of Poplar Bluff.
Moore is waiting on tissue and toxicology samples at this point. Dr. Russel D. Deidiker of Farmington performed the autopsy.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating the unattended death in the Butler County jail.
Family members, as well as Butler County Sheriff Mark Dobbs, confirmed the dead man’s identity.
According to Dobbs, when the corrections staff found Burke, they tired to resuscitate him and called emergency medical services personnel.
Authorities said, there were no signs of trauma, but an autopsy was performed Monday.
“We immediately involved the highway patrol for an external investigation by a third party,” Dobbs said.
A family member said Burke was in jail for failure to pay child support.
Calls to Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop E are still unanswered.
