NEELYVILLE — Alcohol reportedly was a factor in a one-vehicle accident Thursday evening just north of Neelyville in which a 46-year-old Clinton man was seriously injured.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Jonathan W. Cowsert, 46, of Clinton was operating a 1996 Chevrolet Blazer northbound on U.S. Highway 67, eight-tenths of a mile north of Neelyville, at 7:20 p.m. Thursday when it ran off the right side of the road, struck a driveway and became airborne. It returned to the road, then overturned off the left side of the road.

Cowsert was transported by Butler County EMS to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

At 7:59 p.m. Thursday, Cowsert was arrested in Butler County on suspicion of DWI (alcohol), careless and imprudent driving resulting in an accident and no seat belt. He was released for medical treatment.
