A 56-year-old Clarkton woman is dead and a Malden man, 39, is in serious condition and is facing charges after a motorcycle accident at 8:30 p.m. Monday on Butler County CC at County Road 660.
Becky S. Paulson was air evacuated from the scene and transported to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at shortly after 11 p.m.
The driver, Derek McCoin, was air lifted to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
According to Missouri Highway Patrol reports, McCoin was arrested on suspicion of felony involuntary manslaughter, DWI, no insurance and failing to drive on the right half of the roadway.
The 2005 Harley Davidson Heritage ran off the roadway and struck an embankment. Both subjects were ejected from the vehicle.
Paulson is the 17th traffic fatality in Troop E in 2021.
Patrol Sgt. Clark Parrott said the patrol’s major crash unit has been called to investigate the accident and the report will be forwarded to the Butler County Prosecuting Attorney.
