Wappapello Civic Center volunteers will host an event Saturday sponsored by Modern Woodmen’s Matching Funds Fundraiser to help pay for sealing the asphalt on the parking lot.
The event will be a spaghetti dinner, gun raffle and dance at the center which is located on the second road to the right north of the Wappapello Dam.
Judy Wood said, the Modern Woodmen will match up to $2,500 raised at the event. The proceeds will be raised from the dinner, dance and a gun raffle.
“Proceeds from this fundraiser will be used toward sealing our asphalt parking lot,” said Wood, who is one of 10 volunteers on the center’s board. “All support is very much appreciated.”
Tickets for the dinner and dance will be $15, Wood said. Tickets for the gun raffle are $5 each or five tickets for $20. The gun raffle is for a Ruger Compact 9MM-10 +1 Shot Pistol. Drawing for the gun will be at 9 p.m. The winner for the gun raffle doesn’t have to be present to win.
The menu will be all-you-can-eat spaghetti with salad, garlic bread and dessert meal from 5 to 7 p.m.
The dinner/ dance will be $15, but if someone wants to carry out a meal or eat and leave before the dance, the cost will be $8. A menu for a child 12 and under will be $5.
The dance will feature Chuck Clark and Red Light Band from 7-9 p.m. The band plays a variety of music including country and rock ‘n’ roll as well as line dances and slow dances.
The center is open every Saturday except for most holidays, Wood said.
All youngsters 12 years old and younger may attend for free.
