City pool now open

Swim season is here. The Poplar Bluff R. W. Huntington Pool opens Friday. Take advantage of all the city pool has to offer. Admission is $2 for youth 17 and younger; adults 18 and older is $3.

Open swim hours are from 1-5 p.m., seven days a week. Pool parties may be booked by contacting the pool at 686-8651. Pool passes can be purchased for individual youth for $35; individual adult $45; and family $75. Lap swimming is Monday through Saturday from noon until 1 p.m. Cost is $1 for 17 and younger; $2 for adults 18 and older. Family Swim Night is every Thursday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Cost is $5 for the family. Family is immediate family members living in the same household. Everyone in household with proof of residency may be on a family membership. Up to 5 members may be on a plan; more than 5 will increase rate by $2.00 per person.

Beat the heat and exercise at the same time. This 45-minute water aerobic exercise program is designed for stretching, toning, flexibility, cardiovascular fitness, fun and meets all the guidelines of a well-balanced aerobic workout. No swimming experience is required. Water Aerobics is available daily Monday through Thursday from noon to 12:45 p.m. beginning June 10 through Aug. 1. Cost is $3 per session or a full session pass can be purchased for $60.

Aquatics Supervisor Tim Stonecipher said there will be three sessions of swim lessons offered. Registration opens Monday, June 3 and the registration deadline is Friday before the sessions begin. Class size is limited, early registration is suggested. Registration fee is $15; cash or checks are to be made to Poplar Bluff Park Department. Office hours are from 8:00 a.m. to noon and 1- 4 p.m. Session I will be held June 17 – 27; Session II will be July 8 – 18; and Session III July 22 – Aug. 1. For all three sessions Levels 1 – 6 will be held Monday through Thursday at 11 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Water Explorer will be Monday – Wednesday at 11 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Adult Lessons are held Monday through Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
