Poplar Bluff City Manager Matt Winters has resigned to accept a new position.

Winters’ resignation was accepted Monday by the city council, officials said Tuesday morning. He has accepted a position as city administrator for the city of Jackson.

Winters has been city manager since 2020, and started his career with the city as city planner in March 2018.

The matter was discussed Monday in closed session, with a motion made by Councilman Robert Smith, seconded by Councilman Billy DePew and carried unanimously to regretfully accept the resignation effective Sept. 20.
