The Poplar Bluff Child Concern Center volunteers are offering a helping hand to families quarantined because of COVID-19 diagnoses.
Diane Stout of the center said the group received a call from a family needing help with food since a family member had been quarantined with COVID-19. The volunteers agreed to help.
Families or individuals may call 573-785-3108, and she or Christine McAnally will provide a telephone number where a copy of their COVID test results may be texted to them, Stout said. They will be asked to give information about how many are in their family, as well as their address.
The Northside Nutrition Center at the Twin Towers is going to help with food, Stout said.
“We would appreciate donations of canned goods and/or financial assistance,” Stout said, “We, at the Child Concern Center, want to help Butler County residents with positive COVID-19.
“Contact us, and we will drop off food to the home for the whole 14-day quarantine time. We will not make physical contact. We want to keep our county safe.”
The Child Concern Center is an organization helping low-income community members provide clothing, diapers, food and other emergency items for their families.
The program has a thrift store and food panty.
The hours are 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday.
The program originally was organized by women of the Methodist Church and is a non-profit, 501(c)3 corporation, registered with the State of Missouri. The volunteers will give receipts for donations.
Child Concern Center is governed by a board of directors made up of people from the Poplar Bluff area.
The services are made possible by an all-volunteer staff, the proceeds from the thrift store and donations from the community.
Child Concern Center is affiliated with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) and welcomes additional volunteers.
