The Greater Poplar Bluff Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to host the Live2Lead simulcast conference Friday, Feb. 18, at the chamber building. The main speaker is leadership expert and bestselling author John Maxwell, accompanied by Jeff Henderson, Ed Mylett, Don Yaeger and Tim Elmore.

Chamber president Steve Halter explained this is the first leadership event Poplar Bluff has had in a few years.

“Years ago, we participated in the Chick-Fil-A leadercast and then they dropped that event, so we have gone a few years without a leadership program. This opportunity presented itself so we jumped on it,” he explained.

The event will be a great opportunity to gain leadership skills from acclaimed experts and network with local business and not-for-profit operators.

“We’re just excited to offer a leadership program like this, these quality speakers, and have it right here in Poplar Bluff so people won’t have to travel far off to get a good quality leadership program,” Halter said.

John Maxwell is a former pastor and longtime leadership coach and speaker, as well as a New York Times bestselling author. His books include “The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership,” “How Successful People Lead” and “Leadership 101.”

Henderson, Mylett, Yaeger and Elmore also have extensive backgrounds in entrepreneurship, leadership coaching and communication.

The simulcast event will be broadcast on big screens in the chamber community room. Tickets are $75 per person for non-chamber members and $50 per person or three for $125 for members. Current or former students of the Gateway Leadership Program get a 50% discount. Halter urged potential attendees to sign up without delay as seats are going quickly.

“We are encouraging people to jump on it as quickly as possible. I mean, it’s next Friday, and we’re already half full,” he said.

The event is 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Feb. 18 in the Greater Poplar Bluff Area Chamber of Commerce, 1111 West Pine St. Lunch will be provided. Attendees can register by calling 573-785-7761.
