Butler County made sure to recognize and thank its employee this Christmas.

The aroma of traditional Christmas meals wafted Monday through the staircases from the Butler County Courthouses’ second floor.

United Gospel Mission Pastor Greg Kirk and his crew for the fourth year in a row catered the event, Butler County Presiding Commissioner Vince Lampe said.

More than 60 county employees and elected officials attended the holiday dinner, which included turkey, ham, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberry sauce and beverages prepared and served buffet-style.

Desserts like peanut brittle, brownies, assorted cakes and pies, fudge and Christmas candies, all were furnished by the employees.

Lampe was first to praise Kirk and his crew for its cooking skills and fine presentation, as guests populated long tables adorned with festive tablecloths and enjoyed their fill of the provided meal.

A number of employees were honored with awards for their years of service offered by Lampe, but most were on duty and unable to attend.
