Two area businesses were recognized recently by the Greater Poplar Bluff Area Chamber of Commerce, longtime local company Redmond Properties and new storefront, Grateful Headz.

Ribbon cutting events were held for both last week.

Redmond Properties recently made a change, leaving the Century 21 franchise, and returning to the roots of the organization, which was started in 1987 by Russ Redmond, owner/appraiser.

“We’ve been selling and listing property and doing appraisals for 50 plus years. We just didn’t feel like Century 21 was a good fit for us anymore,” said Margie Redmond, owner/broker.

The company was built on hard work, with the motto, “large enough to serve you, small enough to care,” said Margie Redmond, adding they offer buyer representation and will continue developing property. “We’re going to continue to do what we’ve always done, but on a little bigger scale.”

Redmond Properties, 1115 Herschel Bess Blvd., offers services in five counties, with approximately a 100-mile radius of Poplar Bluff.

Grateful Headz is owned Cody Harris and Amber Burgett, and located at 809 W. Pine St. It sells CBD products, vapes, tie dye products and vintage wear.

An important aspect of the business was locating unique items, many by local and area craftspeople, said Burgett. Grateful Headz wanted to offer goods that were not widely available online, she said.

The business was the idea of Harris, she said, who has worked at musical festivals and other businesses in town.

“He’s really good with other people and he’s well known in the community,” she said.
