An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon on the body of a man found in Black River Saturday.
The man, who has not yet been identified, was found in the river by three kayakers near the intersection of Wilson Street and Ashcroft Road at 4 p.m. Saturday. He had been in the river for several days.
Butler County coroner Jim Akers said the man appeared to be white, was 30-50 years old and balding with either gray, light blond or white hair. However, Akers said those were not definite because of the state of decomposition the body was found in. The man was wearing a black T-shirt and black pants or dark blue jeans.
If anyone has any information on the identity of the man, they are encouraged to contact the Poplar Bluff Police Department at 573-785-5776, the Butler County Sheriff’s Department at 573-785-8444 or the Butler County Coroner’s Office at 573-686-7884.
