BLOOMFIELD — A Bloomfield man faces numerous felony charges after being taken into custody in the early hours of Friday morning, following a frantic emergency call of shots fired.

Police arrested Matthew David Reynolds of Bloomfield on multiple felony charges after needing to restrain him. According to the probable cause affidavit, an emergency phone call was made at 1:05 a.m. Friday in regards to shots being fired at a vehicle. The report stated deputies arrived at the scene and gathered information from the reporting parties, who explained the incident had started inside Reynolds’ residence.

According to statements made to deputies in the probable cause affidavit, Reynolds had encountered his juvenile daughter and another unnamed male juvenile laying together in bed. According to the report, Reynolds became enraged, grabbed the male juvenile by the neck and slammed him against a wall, causing the juvenile to briefly lose consciousness.

Reynolds then reportedly grabbed his daughter, slammed her head against a wall and drug her by her hair into another room so he could gain access to a gun. The male juvenile reportedly escaped through an open window and ran into the woods, and Reynolds then opened fire at the juvenile as he ran away.

The report went on to state the male juvenile hid in the woods and could see and hear Reynolds as he drove around the area,= firing gun shots into the air.

The report also stated the daughter of Reynolds texted some friends and said she was afraid her dad was going to shoot her. When her friends arrived at the scene in their vehicle, Reynolds allegedly opened fire at the vehicle.

While on the scene, Reynolds approached one of the deputies and was ordered to show his hands and to stop advancing on the officers. The report stated Reynolds didn’t comply and “actively resisted arrest and fought.” Deputies reportedly managed to gain control and place Reynolds in restraints and took him into custody.

Both juveniles were evaluated by Stoddard County EMS, and the male juvenile was transported to the hospital by his mother.

Reynolds faces four counts of first-degree felony assault; three felony counts of unlawful use of a weapon, four felony counts of second-degree armed criminal action; two counts of first-degree abuse/neglect of a child creating substantial risk; third-degree assault of a special victim; and one felony count of resisting/interfering with arrest.

Reynolds is currently being held without bond in the Stoddard County jail.
