The Stoddard County assessor and juvenile offices will each soon see a new vehicle for their division.

The Stoddard County Development Corporation approved a loan resolution and grant application to purchase vehicles for the two offices during Monday morning's commission meeting.

Carla Jacques presented board members Greg Mathis and Steve Jordan with the loan resolution through the USDA Rural Development in the amount not to exceed $41,400.

Mathis said the low interest loan would be to cover the remaining amount of the vehicles which the grant did not cover.

The Community Facilities Grant applied for through the Rural Development is in the amount not to exceed $22,250.

The next step, according to Jacques, would be to advertise the specs of the two vehicles looking to be purchased.

Once a bid is accepted after 15 days of advertising, Jacques said she will begin preparing the closing documents.

She predicts a closing date to be in October for the vehicles for the assessor and juvenile offices.

Correction

In the Stoddard County commission story that appeared in the Wednesday, Sept. 12 edition listing Stoddard County Sheltered Workshop repair estimates, the estimates were incorrectly identified as $30,000 to $50,000. The repair estimates ranged from $300,000 to $500,000 according to a inspection report completed last year.

The Puxico Press regrets the error.
