The Agee Community Club’s Christmas meeting Dec. 16 was at Dexter Bar-B-Que with hostess Nickey Orton.
Club president Cathy Womack led the motto “When the heart is full of love, the world is full of beauty” to open the gathering. Invocation was given by Jeanie Figgins. The devotional was from Luke 2:1-7 the Christmas story, plus a reading from a magazine called Our Daily Bread titled, “A Fragile Gift,” written by Keila Ochoa. Roll call was answered with a favorite Christmas memory. Secretary and treasurer’s report was read by Figgins,
January hostess will be Nadine Johnson. Orton handed out photos of old Poplar Bluff featuring four theaters and the post office. Christmas gifts were exchanged, Womack gave each one poinsettia.
Pictures from the club’s history book were shared to show the history and projects done in past years. Johnson read a poem from honorary belated club member Orel Smith’s book of poems titled, “A Future Dream.” Magazines were exchanged. Johnson gave each one a Black River Times and read one of the articles. Club collect, “Be Still and Know that I am God”, Psalms 46:10, was shared to close the meeting.
