The Super Bowl is Sunday and Ag Expo organizers are celebrating this unofficial national holiday by inviting attendees to wear their favorite sports jersey Saturday at the expo. Those who participate will be eligible to win a prize package of football party items provided by Walmart Supercenter. This event is part of a project promoting the upcoming census.
“University of Missouri Extension’s mission is to improve lives, communities and economies,” said Stephanie Milner, University Extension County Engagement Specialist. “One way we can impact all three of those areas is by helping to increase participation in the 2020 U.S. Census. An accurate census count can improve opportunities for grants, infrastructure improvements and business expansion that would enhance the quality of life for families in rural Missouri. We are proud to have the U.S. Census as a vendor at this weekend’s Ag Expo to share the importance of being counted.
“Ag Expo is the largest annual event in Butler County and is an appropriate place to encourage everyone to participate in the census,” Milner said. “We are inviting people to wear their favorite sports jersey for a photo to be used in a campaign called Butler County Counts. The photo will be taken at 12:34 p.m. Saturday in front of the main stage. Join us for this fun activity and a chance to win a Super Bowl party prize package that will be awarded to one of the jersey wearers.”
The Ag Expo is in its 34th year and is sponsored by the University of Missouri Extension Council, the Ag Club of Three Rivers College and Greenway Equipment. University of Extension Butler County is a core partner of the local effort supporting the census with the Butler County Counts endeavor.
The Ag Expo is from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Super Bowl LIV coverage is all day Sunday on KBSI FOX 23. Census Day is Wednesday, April 1.s
