Poplar Bluff Boys & Girls Club students took a few moments recently to weigh in on the state of the nation, ahead of next week’s presidential inauguration.
Students were asked what they felt the most important task of the United States president is now. Their answers reflect the concerns many Americans are struggling with now.
Landon Hart
“Stop COVID and keep kids in school. When it’s online, some kids don’t have WiFi or Chromebooks, and if he stops COVID, kids can stay in school.”
Elijh Bosch
“I just feel like the land and animals have been ignored because we’re so focused on money and business. I just want my children to know what a tiger is. I want my child to know what a dolphin or a giraffe is. I don’t want to see them become extinct.”
Evelyn Allen
“I think that he should bring the U.S. back together. I know there are a lot of protests and riots going on and I hope that he can unify the country. If you can’t take leadership now, it’s going to be chaos and it’s going to be harder.”
Bralin Duckett
“I think he should focus on his country. Everyone is going to be angry and the county is going to be divided and he needs to bring the country together.”
Adan Campbell
“There have been rumors going around saying that he is going to shut the country down and I would prefer he would not do that. The last time that happened schools shut down and virtual learning is a lot harder and it’s difficult for students to learn that way. Many students are failing their classes.”
Aiden Nguyen
“I think he should focus on security in our federal buildings. With what happened on the 6th, that should be one of the most important first things to do.”
