Honoring the regions rich timber industry, the third Annual Wappapello Woodlands Expo is set for March 24 at the Redman Creek Recreation Area at Wappapello Lake. The Expo combines competitive timber sports, with crafters, vendors and historical displays creating a unique experience for the entire family. This growing event is possible through a partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Wappapello Lake Area Association (WLAA), Boatner Enterprises and other event sponsors.
Both talented locals and industry professionals will come together for incredible competitions, while Little Lumberjack games for children of all ages will take place throughout the day.
Beginning at 9 a.m., the timber sports competitions will feature traditional and chainsaw contests. This year, the Springboard competition has been added to the event line-up requiring true talent, skill and stamina. The returning traditional competitions include: the crosscut, ax throw, standing chop and underhand chop. In the afternoon, the fast paced chainsaw competitions will amaze spectators as contenders win by as little as seconds. This year's returning chainsaw competitions include: the logger's class, stock appearing, hot saw class and more.
Booths related to the timber, wood products or agriculture industries will be open for viewing from 8 am to 5 pm. Many of these booths will feature local crafts such as furniture, cedar products, toys, chainsaw equipment and more. Food concessions will also be available.
