After 12 years of offering temporary locations, Martin's Memorial Decorations has made its way to Poplar Bluff for the first time.
Owners of Martin's Floral & Home Décor, Jerry and Jan Martin, based in Springfield, Mo., have traveled through Poplar Bluff many times for hunting trips.
"We liked the town and thought maybe the area could use what we have to offer," Jan said.
Martin's Memorial Decorations opened at 208 S. Westwood Blvd., in mid April and will be open through Memorial Day for the community's floral needs.
The decision to offer temporary locations came about 12 years ago when Jan said people were traveling a great distance to visit their stores in Springfield and Ozark, Mo.
"So many people were traveling because our services were not offered in their area," Jan said. "The temporary locations are a convenience to people. We travel to them!"
Martin's Memorial Decorations offers cemetery headstone pieces, sprays, vases, hanging baskets and thousands of flowering bushes for the do-it-yourself customers.
Many options of pre-made arrangements are available in store varying in size, color and price.
"I'm sure everyone will be able to find something," Jan said.
All flowers at Martin's Memorial Decorations are silk arrangements, which Jan described as "very realistic."
"They are better than real flowers because they will last longer," she said. "We are a quality supplier and our prices can't be beat."
In addition to the Poplar Bluff location, Jan said eight other locations have opened across the state for Memorial Day and the Christmas season.
"Business has been good in Poplar Bluff," Jan said. "People are finding us and seem to like what we have."
Martin's Memorial Decorations will be open through next week from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
"We like to serve the community and do whatever we can for the people," Jan said. "We hope to come back to Poplar Bluff."
