Butler County Sheriff

Travis Cora of the 700 block of River View Lane reported at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, that his storage unit at Poplar Bluff Mini Storage, 158 Old Highway B, had been burglarized. Cora reported the lock had been cut off and several items, including video games, a wedding dress, books, darts, movies and miscellaneous clothing were missing.

Upon contacting the business owner, authorities were told the unit was not leased and Cora was asked to remove his items.

Garry Lunsford reported at 8:06 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, that a 2005 Dodge pickup belonging to Ken’s Truck and Trailer in the 4300 block of Westwood Boulevard had been stolen. The door to the business also had been kicked in and the DVR from the building’s security system had been taken.

William Alexander of the 100 block of County Road 315 reported at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, that the front license plate had been stolen from his pickup truck.

Employees of Baker Implement in the 1400 block of Highway B reported at 8:41 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, that a Kubota zero-turn mower had been stolen from the business. The mower later was found in the 500 block of County Road 602 and was returned.

Alphonse Daniel Avila, 40, of the 600 block of County Road 603 was booked Thursday, Oct. 3, at the Butler County jail on a failure to appear warrant for shoplifting and warrants for non support and delivery of cannabinoid.

Nelear Lorraine Elsworth, 50, of the 1500 block of County Road 543 was booked Thursday, Oct. 3 at the Butler County jail on suspicion of stealing.

Samantha Jo Freeze, 31, of Ellsinore was booked at the Butler County jail Thursday, Oct. 3, on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance. She later was released.

Brandi Nichole Johnson, 37, of the 4300 block of County Road 450 was booked Thursday, Oct. 3, at the Butler County jail on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia and suspicion of possession of a controlled substance.

Marlena Marie Martin, 22, of Williamsville was booked Thursday, Oct. 3, at the Butler County jail on suspicion of third-degree assault.

Joseph Allen Roach, 30, of the 400 block of Hazel was booked at the Butler County jail Friday, Oct. 4, on a Scott County failure to appear warrant for non support.

Daniel Lowis Wood, 55, of Clubb was booked at the Butler County jail Thursday, Oct. 3, on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance.

Quinton W. Schultz, 37, of the 1500 block of Highway 53 was booked Thursday, Oct. 3 at the Butler County jail on suspicion of fourth-degree assault.

Kreg Allen Atkisson, 26, of the 300 block of Division was booked at Butler County jail Thursday, Oct. 3, on two failure to appear warrants for false police report and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was later released on bond.

Douglas Lee Freeman, 51, of the 1100 block of County Road 450 was booked at Butler County jail Thursday, Oct. 3, on a failure to appear warrant on eight original charges of driving while revoked.

Danny Ray Vaughn Broege, 23, of the 400 block of B Street was arrested on Oct. 2 on multiple failure to appear warrants for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of synthetic cannabinoid. He was booked at the Butler County jail.

City Police

Nathan Dwayne Montgomery, 32, of the 3100 block of Morrison Road was arrested at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, in the 2900 block of North Westwood on suspicion of assault. He was booked and released on a summons.

Shirley A. Jaco, 63, of the 1000 block of West Harper reported that between 12:10-12:43 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4, unknown person(s) threw rocks at her home, breaking windows in the front door and a bedroom.

Lora L. Clark, 37, of the 2700 block of Barron Road reported that between 6:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, her home was burglarized with jewelry and a game console taken.

Jacob Patrick Gaffney, 19, of Poplar Bluff reported he lost his wallet Tuesday, Oct. 1, and that an unknown individual attempted to use his bank card multiple times on Oct. 2.

Aron Quinn Johnson, 17, of the 600 block of North Main reported a window of his vehicle was broken between 12-4 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, with a number of items taken, including jewelry, and a soccer bag and jersey belonging to Poplar Bluff High School.

Danny Ray Vaughn Broege, 23, of the 400 block of North B was arrested at 11:18 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, at his home on failure to appear warrants on the original charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana. He was booked at Butler County jail.
