An employee at Poplar Bluff Junior High School reported on Feb 22, a juvenile student assaulted another juvenile student in a hallway. The employee separated the students and led them to the office. The matter was referred to the juvenile office.

An employee at O’Neal Elementary School reported at 8:46 a.m. Feb. 28, a student told another student they were unhappy about an assignment and claimed to have a handgun in their backpack. No weapon was found, and the matter was referred to the juvenile office.

Melissa Burton, 39, of Poplar Bluff, was arrested at 1:42 p.m. Feb. 28, at the probation/parole community supervision center at 1441 Black River Industrial Park Rd. Burton was booked in on a Butler County warrant for probation violation with a $20,000 bond and she was lodged in the Butler County jail.

Carlanda Richardson, 47, of Poplar Bluff, was arrested at 2:28 p.m. Feb. 28 in the 700 block of North Ninth Street. Richardson was booked in on a charge of stealing and he was released pending review by the Butler County Prosecutor.

George Price reported at 3:30 p.m. Feb. 28, someone passed a forged check drawn on his account.

Kali Malone, 27, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 5:26 p.m. Feb. 28, at Mike’s Resale at 1015 East Harper St. Malone was booked in on 12 Poplar Bluff municipal warrants for possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, five counts of stealing and driving without a license, with a $3,920.50 bond. Malone was unable to post bond and she was released on her own recognizance.

Lindsey Newton, 22, of Poplar Bluff, was arrested at 7:32 p.m. Feb. 28, during a traffic stop on Oak Grove Road. Newton was booked in on a Poplar Bluff municipal warrant for failure to appear on a traffic offense with a $100 bond. Newton was unable to post bond and she was released on her own recognizance.

A red GMC Sierra was impounded and towed at 8:39 p.m. Feb. 28, from the scene of a traffic stop on North Westwood Boulevard after it was determined the vehicle was not insured. The driver was issued tickets for no insurance and expired registration and was released at the scene.

Michael Lady, 24, of Poplar Bluff, was booked in at the police department on a Poplar Bluff municipal warrant for failure to appear on traffic offenses with a $200 bond. Lady was unable to post bond and he was released on his own recognizance.

Tiffany Hawkins, 49, of Poplar Bluff, was arrested at 11:11 p.m. Feb. 28, at her residence in the 600 block of West Victor Street. Hawkins was booked in on a charge of third degree domestic assault and she was lodged in the Butler County jail.

Lon Eaker reported at 11:34 p.m. Feb. 28, someone broke into his residence in the 1000 block of Tremont Street. Eaker said cash, snack cakes and a bottle of liquor were the only items missing.

Steshawn Carter, 20, of Poplar Bluff, was arrested at 12:35 a.m. March 1, during a traffic stop in the 2000 block of North Westwood Blvd. Carter was booked in on Poplar Bluff municipal warrants for failure to appear on possession of marijuana and a code violation. Bond was set at $464. Carter was unable to post bond and he was released on his own recognizance.

A purple Hyundai Elantra was impounded and towed from a traffic stop at 2:07 a.m. March 1, on Hwy 53 after it was determined the vehicle was not insured and was not properly registered. The driver was released at the scene and a ticket for no insurance was mailed to their address.
