The owner of Mike’s Gun Shop at 901 Peach St. reported at 7:47 p.m. Friday, June 16, that a handgun was stolen from a display case. The suspect, a juvenile male who had been in the store earlier, was identified and the weapon was located and returned to the store. This matter was referred to the Juvenile Office.

Eric Brown reported at 8:37 p.m. on Friday, June 16, that several people were trespassing inside his residence in the 300 block of North G Street. The suspects were told not to return to the property and were released at the scene.

Dyson Rupp reported at 9:07 p.m. Friday, June 16, that a handgun was stolen by a stranger after Rupp showed it to him on the parking lot at Academy Sports at 3095 Oak Grove Road.

Lamar Walker, 31, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 10:25 p.m. Friday, June 16, at his residence in the 100 block of Begley Street. He was booked in on a felony charge of leaving the scene of an accident and lodged in the Butler County jail. The arrest stemmed from the investigation of a single vehicle accident on North Second Street at Elm Street.

A silver 2015 Chevrolet Cruze was found abandoned at 1:43 a.m. Saturday, June 17, after it struck a utility pole on the northeast corner of West Maud Street at Mill Street. The owner, who was working at the time of the accident, stated that she loaned the car to a family member during her shift. The driver had not been identified at the time of this report.

Police responded at 2:21 a.m. Saturday, June 17, to a report that a black 2008 Nissan Altima struck a residence in the 800 block of Oak Hill Street and the driver fled the scene on foot. A witness reported that the car was traveling northbound on North Main Street at a high speed before it left the roadway and struck the residence. The driver was located and, during an interview, stated that he suffered a medical episode just before the accident and walked home afterward. The matter was referred to the Butler County Prosecutor.

A silver 1992 Buick passenger vehicle was impounded and towed from a traffic stop at 12:24 a.m. Sunday, June 18, after it was determined that the vehicle was not registered or insured, and the driver had no license. John Faughn was released on summons at the scene.

Herbert Smith was booked in at the police department at 4:10 a.m. Sunday, June 18. on a Poplar Bluff municipal warrant for failure to appear on a traffic offense with a $50 bond. Smith was unable to post bond and was released on his own recognizance.

An employee at Walmart Supercenter at 333 South Westwood Blvd reported at 4:10 p.m. Sunday, June 18, that a white male drank a can of beer and ate a package of cookies inside the store and left without paying for them. The suspect was banned from the premises and was released without charges.

Aaron Herrold reported at 6:12 p.m. on Sunday, June 18, that a license plate was taken from his car while it was parked in the 300 block of Bartlett Street.

Barry Tucker, 60, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at at 6:44 p.m. on Sunday, June 18, at the intersection of Delano Street at Cross Street. Tucker was booked in on a charge of violation of a protection order and lodged in the Butler County jail.

Iwryn Adams was arrested at 9:10 p.m. Sunday, June 18, during a traffic stop on South Broadway. Adams was booked in on a Poplar Bluff municipal warrant for failure to appear on charges of stealing with a $337 bond and resisting arrest. He was lodged in the Butler County Jail.

An employee at the United Gospel Rescue Mission at 400 South Broadway reported at 11:32 p.m. on Sunday, June 18, that a resident banned from the property returned and created a disturbance on the property. The suspect agreed to leave and not return.
