Sheldon Smith reported at 10:34 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, his roommate struck him in the head with a cell phone as he packed to leave the residence. The matter was referred to the Butler County prosecutor.

An employee at Greg’s Auto Sales reported at 11:55 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, a gray 2017 Ford pickup was stolen from their lot sometime between Dec. 1 and Dec. 8. The truck had already been recovered by the Butler County Sheriff’s Office during the investigation of the theft of a camper.

The suspect in a theft in Ripley County was detained at 1:20 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, at McCoy’s Scrap Metal at 635 S. Sixth St. The suspect was released to a Ripley County deputy at the scene.

Officers responded at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, to Missouri Highlands Behavioral Health at 2210 Barron Road for an adult male suffering a mental health crisis. The subject was restrained and taken to the emergency room for evaluation.

Kathy Leverett reported at 3:54 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, her child’s father threatened to kill her and tried to force his way into her residence in the 800 block of Vine Street. The suspect left before officers were called.

An employee at McDonald’s at 2783 N. Westwood Blvd. reported at 8:41 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, a customer passed a counterfeit bill. The bill was seized and placed into evidence.

An employee at Walmart Supercenter at 333 S. Westwood Blvd. reported at 9:09 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, an adult male was huffing chemicals from aerosol cans in a stall in the restroom. The suspect was banned from the property and escorted out of the store.

Leslie Hathaway, 52, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 2:16 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, during a traffic stop on Fifth Street. Hathaway was booked on a Cape Girardeau County warrant for failure to appear on a traffic offense and held at the Butler County jail.

Jazmine A. Brown, 24, of Poplar Bluff was booked at the Butler County jail Tuesday, Dec. 12, on a Dunklin County warrant for second-degree assault.
