Brad Johnson reported at 9:07 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, a key fob was stolen from his car while it was parked on the lot at Pro Tint at 1104 Vine St. Surveillance video footage captured the theft, and a white female was allegedly identified as the suspect. Officers recovered the key fob and returned it to Johnson and he declined to press charges.

An employee at the municipal pool reported at 9:38 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, someone broke into the concession stand overnight.

Euna Dennis reported at 10:28 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, her estranged boyfriend entered their residence and gathered his personal belongings in violation of a protection order. The offense occurred a week before this report was filed. The matter was referred to the Butler County prosecutor.

Officers responded at 12:47 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, to a residence in the 1000 block of Kinzer Street for a domestic disturbance. An adult male and adult female said they argued, but there had been no assault and neither party wanted to press charges.

Shonika Pulley reported at 3:53 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, money was stolen from her purse by an adult female acquaintance.

Lydia Young, 41, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 6:37 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, at her residence in the 600 block of Cleveland Street. Young was booked on a Poplar Bluff municipal warrant for failure to appear on a charge of stealing. Young was unable to post bond but she was released on her own recognizance.

Administrators at Poplar Bluff School District reported at 9:14 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, they received harassing and threatening messages from an employee and the employee’s spouse.

Ashley McDonald reported at 1:03 a.m. Friday, Aug. 18, her purse was stolen from her car while it was parked on the lot at the Game Court at 2908 N. Westwood Blvd.

Officers investigated at 2:21 a.m. Friday, Aug. 18, a complaint that vagrants were staying at a residence in the 2000 block of Thomas Street without utilities. Travis Cora, 41, Jada Cora, 34, and Andrew Hill, 20, all of Poplar Bluff, were issued criminal summons for dwelling without utilities and released at the scene.

Officers conducting a security check at 4:38 a.m. Friday, Aug. 18, at Kids Corral at 2337 N. Main St. found a door had been kicked in. An employee responded to the scene and secured the building. At the time of the report, they did not believe anything was missing.

Michael L. Derrick, 41, of Qulin was arrested at 6:40 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, in Wayne County on a felony parole violation warrant. He was booked at the Wayne County jail.

A 43-year-old man was killed in a two-vehicle accident at 8:38 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, on Highway 25 in White Oak.
According to the report, Brian D. James, 43, of Bragg City was operating a 2016 Ford Escape southbound when it rear-ended a southbound 2007 Sterling trash truck operated by Devante Bennett, 31, of Kennett.
James was taken by EMS to Pemiscot Memorial in Hayti, where he was pronounced dead at 11:11 p.m. by Dr. Donald Blagdon.
James is the 38th fatality in Troop E this year.

Chad D. Cook, 47, of Poplar Bluff was booked at the Butler County jail Wednesday, Aug. 16, on a warrant for third-degree domestic assault. He was released later that day.

Philip A. Cooper, 62, of Malden was booked at the Butler County jail Wednesday, Aug. 16, as he was in the county for court.
