A subject came to the Poplar Bluff Police Department Saturday, Sept. 28, to file a criminal complaint. It was determined that the subject had been the victim of theft by deception. This investigation is ongoing.

Officers responded Saturday, Sept. 28, to the Poplar Bluff Police Department to serve an arrest warrant. Steven Agoain, 44, of Poplar Bluff was arrested for several outstanding warrants for his arrest.

Officers responded Saturday, Sept. 28, to an apartment in the 1900 block of South Broadway Street in reference to assault. It was determined that, following an argument, one subject had shot another subject in the back. One subject was transported to PBRMC for treatment. A suspect has been identified, and charges are being sought through the Butler County Prosecutor’s Office.

Officers responded Saturday, Sept. 28, to a residence in the 600 block of North 9th Street in reference to property damage. It was determined that someone had damaged a vehicle that was parked near the residence, in an effort to attempt theft of the vehicle. This investigation is ongoing.

Officers responded Saturday, Sept. 28, to a residence in the 600 block of Kinzer Street in reference to suspicious activity. Officers located two subjects in the area matching the description, and upon being contacted, one suspect fled the scene to avoid being taken into custody for an active arrest warrant. The suspect was identified and charges are being sought through the Butler County Prosecutor’s Office.

Officers responded Saturday, Sept. 28, to a residence in the 900 block of Butler Street in reference to unknown subjects on the property. Officers located a juvenile in the backyard of the residence, who admitted to carrying a concealed firearm on his person. The juvenile was taken into custody, the firearm was confiscated, and the juvenile was subsequently released to a family member. This matter is being forwarded to the Butler County Juvenile Office.

Officers responded Saturday, Sept. 28, to an empty lot in the 300 block of Valley Street in reference to found property. Two bicycles were recovered at the scene and have been put into storage at the Poplar Bluff Police Department.

Officers responded Saturday, Sept. 28, to a residence in the 1300 block of Benton Street in reference to a domestic assault. It was determined that two family members had gotten into an altercation, but neither party wanted to pursue charges. This case is closed.
