Officers responded to an apartment Saturday, Oct. 12, in the 2300 block of Eugene Boulevard in reference to an assault. It was determined that a domestic assault had occurred, but that neither of the two involved parties wanted to pursue charges. This case is closed.

Officers responded Saturday, Oct. 12, to a business in the 900 block of Highway 53, in reference to assault. It was determined that a subject had, without permission, physically touched another person in a way that was inappropriate, but not sexual. This investigation is ongoing.

Officers responded Saturday, Oct. 12, to a business in the 500 block of South Westwood Boulevard in reference to assault. It was determined that an employee of the business had been struck by a car in the parking lot, and the vehicle then left the scene. This investigation is ongoing.

Officers responded Saturday, Oct. 12, to a residence in the 2200 block of Ruth Drive in an attempt to contact a non-compliant sex offender. It had been determined that a resident was a non-compliant sex offender, and had failed to report that he was living there to the relevant authorities. Darryl Maberry, 62, of Poplar Bluff was arrested for failing to register as a sex offender.

Officers responded Saturday, Oct. 12, to a business in the 500 block of Highway 53, in reference to trespassing. It was determined that the business wanted an individual, who was present on the property, trespassed due to causing a disturbance there. The subject was identified and formally trespassed from the property. This case is closed.

Officers responded Saturday, Oct. 12, to a residence in the 700 block of Vine Street in reference to a structure fire. The Poplar Bluff Fire Department responded on scene and put the fire out, after which Officers investigated the scene. Officers found signs of forced entry, and determined that a burglary had occurred, and that the fire had followed. This matter was referred to the Fire Marshal’s Office for an arson investigation to follow, while the burglary investigation remains ongoing with Poplar Bluff Police Department.

Officers responded Saturday, Oct. 12, to a residence in the 800 block of north 11th Street in reference to property damage. It was determined that a parked vehicle had been damaged. A suspect was identified and the investigation is ongoing.

Officers responded Saturday, Oct. 12, to a business in the 3000 block of Oakgrove Road in reference to stealing. It was determined that an individual had selected merchandise from the business, that was not paid for, and had left the business with the selected merchandise. The subject was contacted by an employee, and returned the merchandise to the employee, before fleeing the scene. Officers later located the individual, who was taken into custody. Jerry Drye, 27, of Poplar Bluff was arrested for stealing. A second suspect was identified and charges are being sought, against both individuals, through the Butler County Prosecutor’s Office.

Officers responded Saturday, Oct. 12, to a business in the 2000 block of north Westwood Boulevard in reference to a weapon being brandished in a threatening manner. It was determined that a customer had made a remark to an employee, which had been construed as an insult, and this had caused a verbal dispute to follow. Neither party wanted to pursue charges. This case is closed.

Officers conducted a traffic stop Saturday, Oct. 12, at the intersection of north Westwood Boulevard and west Maud Street due to excessive speed. It was determined that the vehicle could not be legally operated on the roadways of Missouri, due to there being no insurance coverage on the operator or the vehicle. The vehicle was towed away. This case is closed.

Officers responded Saturday, Oct. 12, to the area of south Broadway Street and Henry Street in reference to shots fired. It was determined that a firearm had been discharged in the area, following a verbal dispute - however, no victims of gunfire, nor any damaged property was located at this time. This investigation is ongoing.
