Cheyanna L. Wheetley, 23, who listed multiple Poplar Bluff addresses, was arrested at 11:45 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, near the intersection of Nooney and Valley streets on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine. She was transported to the police station and later was released.

Trot D. Grubbs, 55, of the 800 block of Kendall was arrested at his home at 8:36 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, on a Texas warrant for attempted sexual assault. He was booked at the Butler County jail.

Jim Duckett, owner of Hardees at 101 S. Westwood Blvd. reported at 9:48 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, that over the last several weeks, frozen food had been stolen from an outside freezer unit. The value of the food was estimated to be at least $1,000.

Tammy Harper of the 1200 block of Hudson reported at 11:28 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, that someone had broken a window and entered her vacant house. Nothing appeared to be taken.

Billy Harris of the 4400 block of Highway M reported at 9:54 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, that his Menard’s credit card had been fraudulently used recently at three locations in Michigan.

Chandrea L. Gilmore, 46, of the 1300 block of Benton Street was arrested at 9:20 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, near the intersection of Seifert and Perkins streets, on a Stoddard County warrant for non-support. She was booked at the Butler County jail.

BUTLER COUNTY SHERIFF

Paul Presley of the 700 block of County Road 574 reported at 5:34 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, that he returned home to find two dogs running out of his chicken coop. Upon entering the structure, Presley found 26 chickens, valued at $260, had been killed.

Tara Nicole Barnes, 39, of the 1300 block of Meadow was booked Thursday, Nov. 14 at the Butler County jail on suspicion of passing a bad check. She was later released.

Carl Anthony Burks, 53, of the 1300 block of County Road 448, was booked Thursday, Nov. 14 at the Butler County jail on a warrant for second degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon.

Bobby J. Jackson, 58, of Wappapello was arrested at 1:52 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14 in Wayne County on a failure to appear warrant for traffic violations. He was transported to the Wayne County Jail.

Dennis J. Shands, 25, of Wappapello was arrested at 2:09 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14 on a Wayne County failure to appear warrant for possession of a controlled substance. He was transported to the Wayne County Jail.

Brianna K. Melcher, 26, of Doniphan was arrested at 4:35 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14 on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine and marijuana. She was taken to the Ripley County Jail and later released.

Charles A. Scott, 37, of Doniphan was arrested at 10:41 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14 on a Probation and parole warrant for felony non-support. He was transported to the Ripley County Jail.

BLOOMFIELD — Ras Derell Farmer, 31, of Malden was booked at the Stoddard County Jail on a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant.

BLOOMFIELD — Ethan Scott Williams, 26, of Cape Girardeau was booked at the Stoddard County Jail on a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant.

POPLAR BLUFF CITY FIRE

City firefighters responded to an alarm at 5:42 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, at the 947 Lester St. home owned by Victor Medina and occupied by James Medina and Joey Divinney. Upon their arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke and fire coming from a bedroom and entering the building’s attic.

With a call-back of a second shift, firefighters used 4,000 gallons of water to extinguish the fire and used a thermal imaging camera to check for hot spots. A positive pressure ventilation fan was used to clear smoke, and both Spire Gas and Municipal Utilities responded to the scene.
