Firefighters responded to an alarm at 2:56 p.m. Monday, Sept. 6, at the Poplar Bluff High School, 3209 Oak Grove Road. Firefighters walked through the building and found nothing, and they notified the key holder the alarm would be put into trouble mode until school maintenance staff could look at it.

County firefighters responded at 9:47 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, to a mobile home fire at the 116 County Road 359 residence owned by Dorris Dollings. The mobile home and an adjacent camper were totaled.

POPLAR BLUFF POLICE DEPARTMENT

Matthew Russell, 36, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 2:48 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, near Nooney Street. Russell tried to evade police but was arrested after a foot pursuit on felony warrants for parole violation, second-degree robbery, a Ripley County warrant for larceny and a failure to appear warrant for domestic assault. He was booked at the Butler County jail.

William Million reported on Friday, Sept. 3, a bag containing a laptop computer and documents was stolen from his motorcycle while it was parked in the 1800 block of Big Bend.

Alice Morgan of Ocklawha, Florida, reported at 2:58 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, that her 2015 Kia had been struck by another vehicle while it was parked at the Comfort Inn.

MISSOURI STATE HIGHWAY PATROL

Michael L. Holland, 43, of Arbyrd was arrested at 6:42 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, in Dunklin County on suspicion of felony leaving the scene of an accident, DWI, failure to drive on the right half of the roadway resulting in an accident, failure to maintain financial responsibility and no seat belt. He was booked at the Butler County jail on a 24-hour hold.

Vanity S. Hooser, 23, of Ada, Oklahoma, was arrested at 7:42 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, in Stoddard County on suspicion of DWI and driving while suspended. She was booked at the Stoddard County jail on a 12-hour hold.

Howard D. Livingston, 60, of Van Buren was arrested at 7:08 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, in Carter County on suspicion of felony DWI (habitual offender), felony driving while revoked. unlawfully operating an ATV on the highway and failure to comply with interlock ignition device requirements. He was released.

Two men sustained minor injuries in a two-vehicle accident at 8:20 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, on Highway 143 north of Wayne County Road 318, three miles north of Sam A. Baker State Park.

According to the report, Brock M. Bell, 24, of Piedmont was operating a 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 southbound when it failed to negotiate a right-hand curve and slid into the path of a northound 2003 Chevrolet Silverado operated by Ray A. Seeley, 69, of Annapolis.

Both men were transported by EMS to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

A 60-year-old man sustained moderate injuries in a one-vehicle accident at 5:50 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 5, on Highway D in Wappapello.

According to the report, James L. Yount, 60, of Wappapello was operating a 2002 Harley Davidson southound when it ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree, ejecting Yount.

Yount was transported by Air Evac to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Jay R. Dion, 33, of Northport, Alabama, was arrested at 7:56 a.m. Monday, Sept. 6, on suspicion of DWI, exceeding the speed limit by 26 miles per hour or more and no insurance. He was booked at the Dunklin County jail on a 12-hour hold.

David E. Steinberg, 50, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 12:49 p.m. Monday, Sept. 6, in Madison County on suspicion of DWI and felony third-degree domestic assault. He was booked at the Madison County jail on a 24-hour hold.
