City firefighters responded at 1:20 p.m. Thursday, May 13, to a report of a vehicle fire in front of Walmart. According to the report, when firefighters arrived, the vehicle had moved from the parking lot at Walmart to the Murphy’s Gas Station. Firefighters observed grey smoke emanating from the cargo area of the vehicle and the occupants were trying to extinguish the fire. A booster reel was deployed, and firefighters extinguished the materials on fire.

City firefighters responded at 10:49 p.m. Thursday, May 13, to a report of a strong odor and unidentified haze at 621 Cleveland Street. According to the report, when firefighters inspected the home the odor and haze seemed to be centralized in a bedroom. Firefighters used a thermal imaging camera to locate any potential hot spots and a gas meter for harmful gasses; none were discovered. Upon further investigation the source was discovered, and ventilation fans were utilized to clear the area. Dispatch was contacted to inform Housing Authority maintenance of problems..

City firefighters responded at 11:49 p.m. Thursday, May 13, to a report of a structure fire at 1028 Kinzer Street. According to the report, while en-route, dispatch advised that the police department was on scene attempting to make sure everyone was out of the apartments. Firefighters arrived and observed light smoke and flames showing from the center apartment on the second floor. Firefighters were able to put out the fire using 50 gallons of water. Ventilation fans were set up, electric breakers were turned off in the apartment while firefighters awaited arrival of municipal utilities.

City firefighters responded at 6:20 a.m. Friday May 14, to a report of a liquid paint spill on the roadway on Park Avenue. According to the report, crews used 25 gallons of water to clear a spilled container of latex paint from roadway.

Two Poplar Bluff residents suffered moderate injuries in a two-vehicle crash at 6:20 p.m. Thursday, May 15, at the intersection of Highway T at US 60, three miles east of Poplar Bluff. According to the report, a 2017 Chevrolet Volt operated by Carol L. Baker, 45, was travelling southbound on Highway T when a 2004 Ford Taurus operated by Amber F. Baily, 20, traveling eastbound on US 60, failed to yield and struck the Volt. Baily and Baker were transported by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center for treatment.

A Doniphan resident suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 13, on US 160 at Route C, nine miles south of Poplar Bluff. According to the report, a 2013 Ford Focus operated by Dale M. Killian, 59, was travelling westbound on US 160 when a 2012 Ford F350 operated by Phillip S. Wiggs, 48, travelling northbound on Route C, failed to yield, causing the Focus to strike the F350. Killian was transported by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Two Poplar Bluff residents suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle accident at 1:40 p.m. Thursday, May 13, on County Road 608, four miles south of Poplar Bluff. According to the report, a 1988 Honda 4TRAX operated by Jimmy L. Miller was traveling westbound on County Road 608 when a 2008 Honda Artic Cat operated by Joshua L. Allen, also travelling westbound on County Road 608, sideswiped each other causing the 4TRAX to overturn and the Artic Cat to run into a ditch. Miller and Allen were transported to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center for treatment.

A Fairdealing resident suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle accident at 5:58 p.m.Wednesday, May 12, on US 160 East at County Road 20, 10 miles east of Doniphan. According to the report, a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado operated by Christina S. McGee, 47, of Fairdealing was traveling westbound on US 160 when a 2006 Ford Five Hundred, also traveling westbound on US 160, failed to yield and struck the Silverado in the rear. McGee was transported by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center for treatment.

A Higginsville, Missouri, man suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash at 9:55 a.m. Wednesday, May 12, on US 60 westbound approximately two miles east of Van Buren. According to the report, a 1987 Freightliner Dump Truck operated by Dwain J. McPike, 64, of Poplar Bluff was crossing US 160 when a 2016 Dodge Ram 5500 operated by Rylee M. Gannon, 20, struck the dump truck, causing it to overturn and the Ram to enter the median. Gannon was transported by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center for treatment.
