City firefighters responded at 4:53 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, to a report of an accident with smoke showing from a vehicle at 1959 South Westwood
Boulevard. When firefighters arrived, they discovered a service truck had repaired the vehicle and the parties were leaving the scene.

City firefighters responded at 4:58 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, to a report of an unknown fire at 508 Bartlett Street, Apt. 111. According to the report, when firefighters arrived, they were met by a Poplar Bluff Police Department housing officer, and they made their way to the apartment by elevator. They made contact with the occupant and observed no active fire, but found evidence of a small fire on the stove. A plastic spatula had been left on the stove and the burner had accidently been turned on, causing the spatula to melt and catch fire. A neighbor had retrieved a jug of water and extinguished the fire on the stovetop.
A Poplar Bluff woman is being held on suspicion of first-degree burglary after allegedly being caught in the process of burglarizing a home. A resident in the 1700 block of Sanders called officers shortly before noon Wednesday, June 2,, reporting she arrived home to find her front door open. The homeowner told officers she found a woman, later identified as Melissa Nicole Clay, 44, of Poplar Bluff, allegedly placing Lyons’ belongings into a bag. According to police reports, Clay retrieved a screwdriver when confronted and made a stabbing motion toward Lyons. After police arrived, Lyons reported injuries to her lip and upper left forearm. Clay was apprehended on Davis Street and placed under arrest. She was booked at Butler County jail on suspicion of first-degree burglary.
Shannon Leroy Arbuckle, 46, of the 2700 block of Debbie Lane was booked at the Butler County jail Wednesday, June 2, on a failure to appear warrant for trespassing.

Noah James Goldsmith, 50 of the 600 block of Park was booked at the Butler County jail Wednesday, June 2, on suspicion of drug possession.

Rashad Abdul Karim, 32, of the 1200 block of 11th Street was booked at the Butler County jail Thursday, June 3. During a traffic stop, it was determined Karim had outstanding warrants out of Southaven, Mississippi for abusive calls to an emergency phone, false report of placing explosives, false statements to law enforcement and false report of a crime.
