Robin Feller reported the front license plate missing from his vehicle at 4:58 p.m. Thursday, May 12.

A cell phone found on Linwood Street was turned in at the front desk of the Police Department at 5:36 p.m. Thursday, May 12.

Jasmen Hedrick reported at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 12, someone broke into her apartment in the 600 block of Kinzer street and stole a cell phone. The investigation continues.

POPLAR BLUFF FIRE DEPARTMENT

Poplar Bluff firefighters responded to a building fire at 302 W. Victor St. at 12:17 a.m. Thursday, May 12. When firefighters arrived, they found cable wire burning behind the vinyl siding. The coaxial cable running from the satellite dish had arced and melted the corner of the house across the front porch over to the junction where the cable line came into the house. The coating was melted off the wire back to the utility pole.

Municipal Utilities, Sparklight Cable, Poplar Bluff Inspectors Department and the Poplar Bluff Police Department were called to the scene.

Power was temporarily disconnected from the house while utilities employees investigated the signs of a short circuit. Nothing was found on the utility side and power was restored. Sparklight removed the cable drop from the utility pole and power to the satellite wireless router was removed.

BUTLER COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT

Kenny W. Davis, 58, of Dexter was booked at the Butler County jail Thursday, May 12, on a Ripley County failure to appear warrant for unlawful possession of a firearm.

Jerime L. Edwards, 39, of Poplar Bluff was booked on a warrant for second degree domestic assault.

Nathaniel D. Fuhrmann-Crockett, 30, of Puxico was booked at the Butler County jail Friday, May 13, on suspicion of driving while suspended.

Tyler J. Johnson, 27, of Poplar Bluff was booked at the Butler County jail Thursday, May 12, on a warrant for stealing.

Dwayne E. Mosbey, 50, of Piedmont was booked at the Butler County jail Thursday, May 12, on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance.

MISSOURI STATE HIGHWAY PATROL

Tinker L. Chitwood, 39, of Ellington was arrested at 2:07 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, in Reynolds County on suspicion of misdemeanor DWI, failure to stop at a stop sign, no valid operator’s license and failure to display valid registration. He was released.

A 22-year-old woman was killed when she was struck by a vehicle at 3:24 a.m. Thursday, May 12, on U.S. Highway 61, one mile south of Kewanee.

According to the report, Jo A. Tubbs, 38, of Lilbourn was operating a 2017 Buick Encore northbound when it struck Patricia H. Tilson, 22, of Howardville as she was walking in the road.

Tilson was pronounced dead at 4:14 a.m. by New Madrid County coroner George DeLisle. She is the 23rd fatality in Troop E this year.

A 74-year-old woman sustained minor injuries in a three-vehicle accident at the intersection of U.S. Highway 60 and Highway FF, one mile south of Morehouse.

Accordng to the report, Eva W. Murphy, 74, of Sikeston was operating a 2015 Chevrolet Traverse southbound when it drove into the path of a southbound 2022 GMC Sierra operated by Jason D. Williams, 38, of Bernie. A third vehicle, a southbound 2018 Jeep Wrangler operated by Charles W. Webb, 43, of Stantonville, Tenn., also was involved in the crash in an unspecified capacity.

Morgan was transported by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
