Jaylon Lathon, 21, of Poplar Bluff was arrested during a traffic stop on Wednesday, June 29, on North Ninth Street. Lathon was booked on a Butler County failure to appear warrant for possession of narcotic equipment, a Van Buren Municipal failure to appear warrant for speeding, and a Poplar Bluff Municipal failure to appear warrant for trespassing. Lathon was lodged in the Butler County jail.

Lindsay Fears, 30, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 1:36 a.m. Thursday, June 30, during a traffic stop on Highway WW. Fears was booked on charges of possession of amphetamine and distribution of amphetamine and she was lodged in the Butler County jail. Fears also was charged on suspicion of possession of controlled substance in jail after a baggie of methamphetamine was found hidden on her person after she entered the Butler County jail.

Samantha Osborn, 35, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 1:27 p.m. Friday, July 1, during a traffic stop on North 11th Street. Osborn was booked in on a Poplar Bluff Municipal failure to appear warrant for a traffic offense, and she was released on her own recognizance.

Scott Vass reported at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, June 30, someone broke the rear window of his truck while it was parked in the 2000 block of W. Harper St.

Kimberly Schrader, 51, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 5:20 p.m. Thursday, June 30, on suspicion of stealing at Marshall’s, 737 N. Westwood Blvd. Schrader was booked at the Butler County jail.

Latisha Taylor reported at 1:11 p.m. Thursday, June 30, her gray 2013 Chevrolet Captiva was stolen from a residence in the 1700 block of Ellen.

An employee at Boys & Girls Club reported at 12:50 p.m. Thursday, June 30, one of their vans was damaged while it was parked at Lake Road School on Highway AA. Someone allegedly drilled holes in the fuel tank.

Elliott Sumlin, 33, of Sikeston, was arrested at 2:02 p.m. Thursday, June 30, in the 600 block of Charles Street. Sumlin was arrested on suspicion of third degree domestic assault and he was booked at the Butler County jail.

Kasey Brown, 28, was arrested 10:52 a.m, Friday, July 1, at Marshalls, 737 North Westwood Blvd. Brown was arrested on suspicion of stealing and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was booked into the Butler County jail.

Danny King was arrested at 7:51 a.m. Friday, July 1, during the investigation of an accident on the parking lot at Dollar General Store, 903 Highway 53. King was arrested on suspicion of driving while suspended or revoked, leaving the scene of an accident, and no proof of insurance. King was lodged in the Butler County jail.

An employee at J.C. Penney Co. reported two white males stole a jewelry display with approximately $12,000 worth of jewelry 12:16 p.m. Friday, July 1. According to Poplar Bluff Police reports, James Smith, 31, of the 500 block of Poplar Street was identified as one of the suspects and arrested. Smith was booked on suspicion of stealing and lodged in the Butler County jail. The investigation continues.

Poplar Bluff Police received a report at 1:35 p.m. Friday, July 1, a gold 2000 Chrysler van was stolen from the 1500 block of Black River Industrial Park Road.

An employee at Orscheln Farm Store reported at 7:08 p.m. Friday, July 1, a white male stole merchandise from the store and left in a white pickup. Officers recognized the white male as Robert Rasmussen, 27, of Poplar Bluff, who was located and arrested in the 500 block of Park Street on suspicion of stealing and a Poplar Bluff Municipal failure to appear warrant for larceny. Rasmussen was released on his own recognizance.

Michael Gilmore was arrested at 11:14 p.m. Friday, July 1, at his residence in the 1300 block of Benton Street on a Butler County warrant for second degree aggravated assault and booked into the Butler County jail.

Lyn Farr, 55, of Poplar Bluff and Lesa Ojeifo, 54, of Poplar Bluff were arrested at 12:54 a.m. Saturday, July 2, during a traffic stop on South Broadway after it was determined the license plates displayed on their vehicle were stolen. Farr was booked on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia into the Butler County jail. Far also was cited for stealing, no proof of insurance, and no operator’s license. Ojeifo was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia and she was released pending further investigation.

Nicholas Shannon, 27, of Poplar Bluff was found asleep at the wheel of his vehicle at 3:06 a.m. Saturday July 2, on the parking lot at Huck’s Convenience Store, 703 North Westwood Blvd. Shannon was cited for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia and released at the scene.

An employee at Pack’s Do-It Center reported at 11:25 a.m. Saturday, July 2, two white males had charged merchandise to a customer’s account without authorization. One of the suspects captured on surveillance video footage was identified as James Smith, 31, of Poplar Bluff.

Smith was arrested in at his residence in the 500 block of Poplar Street, and booked on suspicion of stealing. He was lodged in the Butler County jail.

Jennifer Scarlet was arrested at 3:27 p.m. Saturday, July 2, at Sportsman’s Park on East Pine on a Butler County warrant for probation violation and a Poplar Bluff Municipal failure to appear warrant for trespassing. She was lodged in the Butler County jail.

Dennis Gowen, 53, of 1400 block of Meadowbrook Lane and Anthoney Richard, 42, of 1400 block of Wallace Street were arrested at 5:28 p.m. Saturday, July 2, during a traffic stop on Ashcroft Road. Gowen was booked in on a Butler County warrant for probation violation and a Poplar Bluff Municipal failure to appear warrant for driving while revoked. Gowen was lodged in the Butler County jail. Richard was booked on a warrant for parole violation and forgery and lodged in the Butler County jail.

A Municipal Utilities employee reported at 6:48 p.m. Saturday, July 2, someone at Poplar Bluff Mini Storage at 251 Highway 53 was stealing electricity from a Municipal Utilities facility on Thomas Street.

Shawn Eason, 47, of Poplar Bluff was arrested Saturday, July 2, on suspicion on a charge of stealing and a Poplar Bluff Municipal failure to appear warrant for larceny. Eason was released on his own recognizance.

Nola Loring, 59, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 7:44 p.m. Saturday, July 2, during a traffic stop on Maud Street on a charge of possession of a controlled substance and Poplar Bluff failure to appear warrants for animal control and code violations. Loring posted bond and was released pending further investigation.

Ernest Adams, 47, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 8:27 p.m. July 2, in the 500 block of Highway 53 following a motor vehicle pursuit. Adams was booked on suspicion of traffic offenses and felony resisting arrest by fleeing creating risk of injury or death and a Carter County warrant for dangerous drugs. He was lodged in the Butler County jail.

A black Chevrolet Malibu was stopped at 10:33 p.m., Saturday, July 2, in the 500 block of Highway 53. Driver Latoria Goodloe, 38, of Poplar Bluff, was cited for no license plates and no proof of insurance and she was released. Her vehicle was impounded and towed from the scene.

Austin Miller, 23, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 11:58 p.m. Saturday, July 2, on Poplar Bluff Municipal failure to appear warrants for a weapons offense and property damage. Miller was unable to post bond and he was released on his own recognizance.

An employee at Rick’s 66 at 700 Highway 53 reported at 12:58 a.m, Sunday, July 3, a juvenile set fire to merchandise inside the store. The juvenile was released to a guardian and the matter was referred to the Butler County Juvenile Office.

Brandon Arnold was arrested at 3:10 a.m. Monday, July 4, at Jay’s Corner Store at 1040 South Broadway on a Dunklin County failure to appear warrant for non-support and Poplar Bluff Municipal failure to appear warrants for assault, no proof of insurance and driving while suspended. Arnold was booked at the Butler County jail.

Rachel Saighman, 37, of the 600 block of Kinzer was arrested at 12:24 p.m. Monday, July 4, at her residence on a failure to appear warrant for driving while suspended or revoked and leaving the scene of an accident and Poplar Bluff Municipal failure to appear warrants for traffic offenses and possession of marijuana. She was lodged in the Butler County jail.

Misty Millis, 38, of 5000 block of Nelly Sue Circle was arrested at 1:03 p.m. Monday, July 4, during a traffic stop on North Main St. Millis was booked on a Ripley County failure to appear warrant for possession of a controlled substance and Poplar Bluff Municipal failure to appear warrants for traffic offenses. She was booked at the Butler County jail

Jennifer Vollet, 38, of 2100 block of Wood Street was arrested 2:21 p.m. Monday, July 4, during the investigation of a motor vehicle accident on Highway 53. Vollet was booked in on a Carlisle County, Kentucky failure to appear warrant for first degree criminal mischief. She was booked at the Butler County jail.

Jeffery H. Pinkston, 48, of the 1900 block of County Road 421 was arrested on a warrant at 8:03 a.m. Tuesday, July 5, at 3111 Oak Grove Road.

Nathan P. Sansoucie, 36, of the 800 block of Oak Hill was arrested on a warrant at 10:16 a.m. Tuesday, July 5, at 1441 Black River Industrial Park. He was booked into the Butler County jail.

Melinda S. Tyler, 48, of Highway PP was arrested on a warrant at 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, at 1805 Indiana.

POPLAR BLUFF FIRE DEPARTMENT

Firefighters responded at 11:15 a.m. and again at 1:06 p.m. Friday, July 1, to the Manor, 2071 Barron Road, to the report of a fire alarm sounding. According to the report, while en route dispatch advised that it was a false alarm. An employee stated a resident had activated the alarm pull station and there was not an emergency.

Firefighters were dispatched to the smell of gas in the Harry Crisp Technology Center, 2080 Three Rivers Blvd. at 2:22 p.m. Friday, July 1. According to the report, an employee showed the firefighters around the areas the smell was noticed. The smell had been noticed approximately 30 minutes before the crew was notified. They used a gas meter in the areas where the gas was suspected but were unable to locate any problems. A Spire Gas Company employee arrived several minutes later and checked the building for any gas leaks and was unable to find any leaks or problems. Nothing was found.

Firefighters responded to a motor vehicle accident with no injuries at 4:15 p.m. Friday, July 1, at 801 S Westwood Blvd. According to the report, the crew checked occupants for injuries, but none were found. They cleared the highway of debris and used hydro break to clean the roadway.

Firefighters responded to an alarm at Poplar Bluff Regional Westwood Campus, 2620 N Westwood Blvd., at 3:13 p.m. Friday, July 1, to an alarm system sounded due to malfunction. According to the report, after arriving on scene, the crew met with a security guard who showed the boiler room where the alarm panel showed to be the problem area. Firefighters checked the boiler room and were unable to locate any problems. The detector in this room has given a false alarm a couple times over the last couple weeks.

Firefighters responded to the intersection of Pine and Fifth streets to a motor vehicle accident with injuries at 3:34 p.m. Friday, July 1. According to the report, when they arrived on scene, they checked for injuries and assisted the emergency medical technician crew.

Firefighters responded to Magnolia Street at 7:18 p.m. Friday, July 1, to an authorized controlled burn. According to the report, they has been dispatched for a grass fire on the levee. There was no grass fire, but an authorized burn in the area.

Firefighters responded to motor vehicle accident with injuries at 5:53 p.m. Friday, July 1, on Fair Street at the Sale Barn. According to the report, they found a vehicle in a ditch and the occupant was uninjured. A tow truck removed the car from the ditch. Municipal Utilities was called for a vehicle hitting the guide wires.

Firefighters responded at 2:40 a.m. Saturday, July 2, to Poplar Bluff Regional Westwood Campus, 2620 N. Westwood Blvd. to an alarm system sounding due to malfunction. According to the report, while en route, dispatch advised it was a false alarm. Firefighters arrived on scene and met with security, who stated it was a false alarm caused by the same faulty detector we had been there for twice the day before. Firefighters advised them they need to have the faulty detector or system repaired. The employed stated they were going to have the problem area taken out of service until the problem was fixed.

Firefighters responded at 10:47 a.m. Saturday, July 2, to 1948 Woodhaven Road to a reported authorized controlled burning for smoke in the area coming from behind the business of Artfully Framed.

Firefighters responded at 10:44 p.m. Saturday, July 2, to smoke in the area of 900 block of Cynthia Street. According to the report, no incident was found on arrival at dispatch address.

Firefighters responded 12:03 p.m. Sunday, July 3, to a motor vehicle accident with no injuries at the intersection of Highways 53 and 142. According to the report, while responding they were notified by there was an occupant having a hard time exiting the vehicle. Once on scene it was determined no extrication was needed as the occupant exited the vehicle by herself. They crew helped with traffic control until the vehicle was cleared from the roadway.

Firefighters responded at 4:02 p.m. Sunday, July 3, to a system malfunction at 2080 Three Rivers Blvd. at the Crisp building. According to the report, upon arrival nothing was showing and upon investigation found no active alarm. At that time, a key holder arrived on scene and firefighters searched the building but found nothing. The key holder stated he would contact the alarm company.

Firefighters responded at 6:28 p.m. Sunday, July 3, to 601 Kinzer for a strange odor coming form air conditioning unit. According to the report, they made contact with Victoria Roberts, who stated the A/C unit smelt like something burning. Fire personnel took the panels off the unit and found a shorted-out solenoid that was overheating and smoking. Fire personnel turned the breakers off to unit. Fire personnel the left door and windows open to ventilate the residences. The building inspector was notified to be sure that a electrician is used to check the unit.

Firefighters responded at 7:25 p.m. Saturday, July 3, to a system malfunction at 2233 N. Westwood Blvd. for a fire alarm sounding. According to the report, after arriving on the scene, dispatch advised they had not been able to make contact with a key holder, so the crew opened the knox box and made entry into the business. An officer searched the building including the roof to check all air units and rooms with nothing was found. A key holder arrived on the scene to reset the alarm and all units cleared the scene. The knox box that serves both 2233 and 2235 was blocked and merchandise had to be moved to gain entry to it. The key holder was advised of the situation.

Firefighters responded to a grass fire at Bacon Park, W. Harper St. at 4:18 p.m. Monday, July 4. According to the report, firefighters extinguished the brush fire by the basketball court for the report of a brush fire. They used 30 gallons of water to put out the fire. The Poplar Bluff Police Department also responded.

Firefighters were dispatched to structure fire at 1900 Thomas St. at 4:40 p.m. Monday, July 4. According to the report, upon arrival firefighters found the exterior wall on fire and was met with a neighbor who had mostly extinguished the fire with a bucket. She stated fireworks had hit the unoccupied house and started burning. Firefighters removed outside covering and sheathing to check for extension as well as the interior. They used 40 gallons of water.

Firefighters were dispatched to 712 S. D St. at 7:02 p.m. Monday, July 4, to assist in lifting a man back to his wheel chair. According to the report, upon arrival the police officer informed them the subject had made it back in his wheelchair and that we were no longer needed.

Firefighters responded to a grass fire in a vacant lot located at 2107 Pike St. at 8:46 p.m. Monday, July 4. According to the report, they used 20 gallons of water to put out the fire.

Firefighters were dispatched to 420 Bearden Street 9:15 p.m. Monday, July 4, for an electrical pole on fire. According to the report, upon arrival the crew found a small grass and leaf fire around the electrical pole but the pole itself was not actually burning. They extinguished the fire and cleared the scene. Fifteen gallons of water was used to extinguish the fire.

Firefighters were dispatched at 9:42 p.m. Monday, July 4 to a grass fire at 702 Apple for the report of a grass fire. According to the report, upon arrival they found three different small fires just off of the street. They quickly extinguished the small fires with 15 gallons of water.

Firefighters were dispatched to the area of Harper and Garfield streetsfor a possible grass fire at about 10:59 p.m. Monday, July 4. According to the report, while en route dispatch advised it would be at the basketball courts on Garfield Street. Crews arrived to find an area burning down the side of the roadway. They were approached by a subject who stated someone shooting fireworks was the cause of the fire. The fire was extinguished with 150 gallons of water.

Hardesty, 31, of Doniphan was arrested at 4:01 p.m. Saturday, July 2, in Ripley County on a pair of Butler County failure to appear warrants and a Malden police warrant for contempt of court, and on suspicion of misdemeanor DWI (alcohol) and failure to drive on the right half of the road. He was booked by the Ripley County Sheriff.

Two men sustained minor injuries in a two-vehicle accident at 8:40 Wednesday, June 29, on Highway 77, two miles south of Benton.

According to the report, Kevin W. Williams, 47, of Dexter was operating a 2011 Buick Lucerne southbound when it failed to yield and struck the rear of a southbound 2000 Freightliner SLC 120 operated by Bailey F. Cochran, 24, of Sikeston.

Cochran was transported by private convenience to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, while Williams was transported by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

A 55-year-old man sustained moderate injuries in a one-vehicle accident at 4 a.m. Thursday on Highway 25, six miles north of Bloomfield.

According to the report, George E. Davis, 55, of Scott City was operating a 2014 Freight liner southbound when it traveled off the right side of the road, returned to the road and then overturned.

Davis was taken by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center.

A 49-year-old woman sustained minor injuries in a two-vehicle accident at 6:35 a.m. Friday, July 1, on Highway D, three miles south of Greenville.

According to the report, Rose S. Fears, 49, of Greenville was operating a 2010 Ford F-150 northbound when she sideswiped a southbound 2013 Chevrolet 2500 operated by Adam R. Montgomery, 23, of Piedmont.

Fears was taken by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

A 53-year-old woman sustained minor injuries in a two-vehicle accident at 12:30 p.m. Friday, July 1, on Highway 25, one mile north of Malden.

According to the report, Gregory L. Hall, 58, of Malden was operating a 2012 Ford F-150 eastbound when it failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a southbound 2007 Mazda 3 operated by Brittney R. Bearden, 30, of Clarkton.

A passenger in Bearden‘s vehicle, Michelle R. Mattney, 53, of Clarkton was taken by ambulance to SoutheastHEALTH in Dexter.

Two people sustained minor injuries in a two-vehicle accident at 5:16 a.m. Friday, July 8, on US Highway 67 at Greenville.

According to the report, Walter K. Robertson, 48, of St. Louis was operating a 2021 Chevrolet Malibu eastbound when it crossed into the path of a northbound 2021 Ford Bronco operated by Mindy L. Thomas, 27, of Naylor.

Thomas refused medical care at the scene, while Robertson was taken by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
