POPLAR BLUFF FIRE DEPARTMENT
Firefighters responded at 6:22 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, to a report of smoke in an apartment at 505 Oak St. It was determined an occupant was cooking and boiled food over onto a burner, creating the smoke. Firefighters used a positive pressure ventilation fan to remove the smoke from the apartment.

Firefighters were dispatched at 8:55 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, to the area of Main and Gardner streets for a reported vehicle accident. They were told to disregard before arriving on the scene.

Firefighters responded at 8:20 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, to a reported electrical fire at the 1620 Wallace St. home owned by Cindy Cochran and occupied by Christina Rouse. Upon arrival, an occupant showed firefighters where the fire had been, and they discovered a strong smell of gasoline. They called a city police detective to process the scene.

County firefighters responded at 2:13 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, to a structure fire at the 109 County Road 556 property of Vernon Nabert, where a shop building burned.

Charles T. Stacy, 35, of the 800 block of Lester Street was arrested at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, on a Butler County warrant for aggravated assault and a city failure to appear warrant for domestic assault. He was booked at the Butler County jail.

Two people sustained minor injuries in a two-vehicle accident at 2:40 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, at the intersection of U.S. Highway 60 and County Road 517, one mile east of Dexter.
According to the report, a 16-year-old male was operating a 2013 Ford F-150 southbound when it failed to yield at the intersection and struck an eastbound 2000 Ford Excursion operated by Robert C. Mehrle, 28, of Caruthersville.
The 16-year-old male and a 16-year-old male passenger in his vehicle were taken by EMS to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

A 46-year-old woman sustained moderate injuries in a one-vehicle accident at 1:10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 10, on the U.S. Highway 60 eastbound exit ramp to U.S. Highway 67.
According to the report, Ellen Bridgeman, 46, of Bothell, Washington was operating a 2020 International northbound when it traveled off the left side of the roadway and overturned.
Bridgeman was taken by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
