Tina Stout reported at 6:36 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, a white passenger vehicle ran into her yard and struck the front porch of her residence in the 1700 block of Seifert Drive. The driver was later identified as Devin Freeman, 18, of Poplar Bluff. Freeman was issued a summons for leaving the scene of an accident and he was released.

A white Hyundai passenger vehicle was found abandoned at 11:24 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, on the parking lot at Genesis Home Care at 1908 South Broadway. The vehicle was towed from the scene by Barker’s Towing.

Lonnie Eldridge reported at 12:40 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, the license plates were stolen from his truck while it was parked on Ashcroft Road.

Nigel Williams reported at 1:38 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, an adult female was harassing him. Efforts to contact the suspect failed and she was mailed a summons.

Jeffrey Gilbert reported at 3:45 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, his cell phone was stolen from his residence in the 900 block of Fairmount.

Shelly Hampton, 59, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 3:37 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, during a traffic stop on South Westwood Boulevard on alleged charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana. He was released pending further investigation.

An employee at Kroger reported at 4:24 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, a white female stole a package of chap stick.

Officers responded at 6:39 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, to a drug overdose on the parking lot at Valley Plaza. EMS administered Narcan, and the victim was transported by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Randal Jenkins reported at 9:09 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 15, someone broke into his residence in the 1200 block of Fairmount Street and stole two televisions and a game console.

An employee at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center reported at 8:07 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, he was assaulted by a patient. The patient later said the employee assaulted him.

Aaron Ganno, 34, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 2:03 a.m. Friday, Sept. 16, on the parking lot at McAllister’s at 2865 Tucker Drive on alleged charges of possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a firearm. He was booked into the Butler County Jail.

Priscilla Frazier reported at 2:05 a.m. Friday, Sept. 16, someone broke into her storage unit at West Maud Storage, 1700 W. Maud St.

Cody Hemphill, 25, Lillian Canania, 18, and Diana Summers, 47, all of Poplar Bluff, were arrested at 3:08 a.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at a residence in the 1900 block of Iowa Street.
Hemphill was booked in on Wayne County warrants for failure to appear on a charge of tampering with a motor vehicle and a probation/parole warrant for parole violation. He was lodged in the Butler County Jail.
Canania was booked in on Poplar Bluff Municipal warrants for failure to appear on operating a vehicle without a license and disorderly conduct. Canania was unable to post bond and she was released on her own recognizance.
Summers was booked in Poplar Bluff Municipal warrants for failure to appear on code violations. Summers was unable to post bond and she was released on her own recognizance.

A student at Poplar Bluff High School reported at 8 a.m. Friday, Sept. 16, being assaulted Thursday, Sept. 15, by another student the day before Thursday, Sept. 15. This matter was referred to the Juvenile Office.
__Poplar Bluff Fire Department__
Poplar Bluff Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident with no injuries at 6:36 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, at 1701 Seifert Drive. While en route advised a vehicle had struck a house and fled from the scene, and there was one injury. Upon arrival the home occupants stated there were no injuries and everyone was fine. Police arrived at the same time. After discovering there were no injuries, firefighters left the scene.

The Poplar Bluff Fire Department was contacted directly by Croy’s Perfect Press, 2184 N. Westwood Blvd., at 4:10 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, in regards to a CO alarm sounding. After arrival, firefighters interviewed the employees, checked for injuries, and used the multimeter to check for carbon monoxide. None was found. The crew installed a new CO/smoke alarm combo. Neither the new CO alarm nor the meter picked up anything.

Firefighters were dispatched at 7:54 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, to a car fire around the intersection of Woodrow and Ashcroft. The car was a safe distance from any structures. The crews extinguished the fire and checked for fire extension was checked throughout the car and none was found. The property owner said the vehicle owner had been working on the car for several days. The vehicle owner was not at the residence and they had no way to reach him. Vehicle is a four door Nissan black Altima owned by Jeff Mithem. Firefighters used 350 gallons of water to put out the fire.

Firefighters were dispatched at 9:53 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, to 449 Midland for a CO alarm sounding. Upon arrival, they entered the home and took a reading with a multigas meter and found a CO reading between 25 and 29ppm. They contacted dispatch to notify Spire Gas. Spire Gas took readings around the home and deemed the home safe. After a small amount of ventilation, readings were below 20ppm. E-33 cleared the scene. Firefighters talked with Shekinah Maidson.

The Poplar Bluff Fire Department received a direct call at 1:28 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, reporting smoke in the area of Abbington and Bradley Streets. Fire department personnel searched the area but nothing was found.

Firefighters were dispatched at 10:41 a.m. Friday, Sept. 16, to a reported motor vehicle accident with injuries at the intersection of Fifth and Valley involving a moped and an automobile. Arriving on the scene, the crew found a single patient in the middle of intersection. They administered first aid until Poplar Bluff police officers and Butler County EMS arrived and the firefighters assisted with stabilizing, packaging and loading the patient for transport to local emergency room. After patient was loaded the crew used 20 gallons of water to clean the roadway.
