Monday, Aug. 9, a 16-year-old juvenile was arrested on an active warrant for misdemeanor property damage. Custody of the juvenile was transferred to a juvenile officer.

POPLAR BLUFF FIRE DEPARTMENT
Poplar Bluff firefighters responded to an apartment fire at 6:32 a.m. Monday, Aug. 9, at 513 S. Ninth St. When they arrived, light smoke was coming from the apartment. The resident had used a fire extinguisher to put out the fire. Firefighters found a couple of clothing item smoldering in a closet, and they ventilated the apartment. There was some smoke damage to the closet.

Firefighters responded at 4:45 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9, to a fire alarm at the Three Rivers College Westover Building, 2080 Three Rivers Blvd. The fire was on a transformer on the outside of the building. Firefighters noticed the fire was close to a gas main and advised Municipal Utilities. The fire crew pulled a booster line to cool the gas main and used an ABC extinguisher to knock down the fire close to the gas main because they were unsure if the power was off to the transformer. Municipal Utilities arrived to check if the power was off to the transformer. Firefighters used a bumper line to put out the fire on the outside transformer and forced entry into the transformer, breaking locks to open the door on the side. They used 100 gallons of water.

Firefighters responded at 4:49 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9, to 444 N. Main St., to a cooking fire. They found smoke in a first floor apartment. The occupant stated they had left food cooking and smoked up the apartment, the range was off and the cooking container had been filled with water. They used fans to clear out smoke.

Firefighters responded at 4:15 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, to a motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival Poplar Bluff Police informed them it was a non-injury accident.
