__Poplar Bluff Fire Department__
Smoke was showing when Poplar Bluff Firefighters responded to a structure fire in a multifamily dwelling at 325 W. Midland St. at 11:12 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8.
A neighbor had busted out the windows and was spraying the fire with a garden host when the firefighters on the first ladder truck arrived. Justin Moyers and Tyler Gutterman made entry through the front door going into the bedroom closest to the door where the fire was located. They quickly extinguished the fire and set up a positive pressure ventilation fan in the front door and opened all the windows to get the smoke out of the building.
The fire crew carried the smoldering dresser outside to finish extinguishing the fire in the drawers.
Firefighters used 50 gallons of water to put out the fire.
The thermal imaging camera was used to search for hot spots
Resident Stephanie Mellon and her boyfriend arrived. Fire Chief Mike Moffitt and Battalion Chief Jeffery Hale coordinated with Red Cross to ensure Mellon had a place to stay Monday night.
Poplar Bluff Police Department and Municipal Utilities also responded.
Firefighters responded to a natural vegetation fire at Davis and Garfield streets at 2:15 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, and used 30 gallons of water to put out the fire.

Firefighters responded to an unauthorized controlled burn at 409 Cleveland St. at 1:57 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20. Upon arrival they learned it was a controlled burn.

Firefighters responded to an electrical fire at 1046 Davis St., at 8:50 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22. The occupant stated she had a light that was smoking and sparks coming from her heating unit, She already had killed the power to both. The crew used the TIC to check for hot spots and or wires and found nothing. The advised the occupant to have the heat system inspected before turning it back on.

Firefighters responded to an unauthorized burn at 1613 Willow St. at 7:22 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22. They used 15 gallons of water to extinguish the fire.

Firefighters responded to an Walmart Neighborhood Market, 3001 Oak Grove Road, for a system malfunction at 11:24 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23. They walked with the story and no issues were found. The system was reset.

Firefighters responded to an 1700 Old Orchard Road to an unknown fire at Thursday, Nov. 24. They found an authorized controlled burn.

Firefighters responded to a system malfunction at 8:36 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 24, at Rhodes Conviences, 3111 Oak Grove Road. The alarm company called and stated it was a smoke alarm. The crew investigated every smoke alarm and could not find one that had been activated. When nothing could be found, the system was reactivated.

Firefighters responded to an unauthorized burn at 412 N. Main St. at 6:51 a.m. Friday, Nov. 25. They used 20 gallons of water to extinguish the fire.

Firefighters responded to Three Rivers College Westover Building, 2080 Three Rivers Blvd. at 10:13 a.m. Friday, Nov. 25, to an alarm system sounding due to malfunction. They checked the alarm panel which showed a detector in the hallway was activated. There was no smoke or trouble in the area and it was determined the detector was faulty. A maintenance worker arrived, cleared the alarm, replaced the faulty detector and reset the alarm panel.

Firefighters responded to a motor vehicle accident with no injuries at 5:19 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, at 591 N. Westwood Blvd. Poplar Bluff police and Butler County EMS were at the scene.

Firefighters responded to an alarm at 11:01 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center Behavioral Health, 2620 N. Westwood Blvd. They were met by security and informed a patient from mental health pulled the fire alarm.

Firefighters responded to assist a Butler County EMS crew at 7:17 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, to 1004 Nickey St. Firefighters used halogen to force a storm door open, broke glass in the main door and unlocked it. Poplar Bluff firefighters searched the residence and found the victim on the floor. The fire crew assisted EMS in preparing the patient for transport.

Firefighters responded to a smoke detector activation at 3100 Warrior Lane at 1:28 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28. It was an accidental activation and there was no fire.

Firefighters responded to a smoke scare in the 800 block of Park Avenue at 5:40 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28. They were unable to find the source of smoke.
