Poplar Bluff firefighters responded at 10:08 a.m. Thursday, May 11, to 2012 Meadows Road to a report of an alarm sounding and smoke in a hallway. Upon arrival nothing was showing and the occupant stated dust set off the alarm.

Firefighters responded at 1:25 p.m. Thursday, May 11, to an unauthorized burn 314 Cleveland. The occupant was informed of the burn ordinance and the fire was extinguished with 10 gallons of water.

Firefighters responded at 3:30 a.m. Friday, May 12, to a carbon monoxide incident at 2133 Sunset Dr. Upon arrival, firefighters located the detector, which indicated it was no longer working. They used a MultiRAE Meter and a MSA detector but no carbon monoxide was found. The crew advised the detector be replaced.

Firefighters responded at 4:06 a.m. Friday, May 12, to an unauthorized burning at 821 Cedar St.
According to Battalion Chief Stacy Harmom, the crew arrived and made contact with a Poplar Bluff Police officer who was patrolling the area and found a large pile of copper wire burning. Firefighters extinguished the fire using 20 gallons of water. The police officer attempted to make contact with the person thought to be responsible for the fire. No one answered the door of the residence they visited and people denied knowing to whom the pile belonged. The property is owned by Legendary Rentals.
