The Poplar Bluff Fire Department responded at 10:12 p.m. Sunday, March 5, to an unauthorized burning in the 700 block of North 10th Street. The fire was located in the rear of 714 N. 10th St. Firefighters advised the resident of the city burning ordinance. The resident put out the fire.

Firefighters responded at 7:57 p.m. Sunday, March 5, to 724 N. 12th St. to someone burning trash. After talking to the resident about resident about city ordinance about burning trash, the crew used the booster line and used 15 gallons of water to put out the fire.

The resident was Amanda Mobley and the owner was Carol Kara.

Firefighters responded to a grass fire in the backyard of a resident at 2143 Inman Road at noon Saturday, March 4. The six firefighters were advised before arriving the fire was under control, but their assistance was required. A small gas container was burning in the rear yard. The owner stated while using a cooking grill outside, the gas container caught fire and he threw the container into the open year to keep it away from the home and deck. Firefighters used the booster line and approximately 5 gallons of water to extinguish the fire.

Firefighters responded to a two vehicle accident with injuries at 8:50 a.m. Saturday, March 4, at North Westwood Boulevard and Shelby Road.

The Missouri Highway Patrol was already on the scene when the two crews of firefighters arrived. Firefighters found one of the occupants in need of medical attention before Butler County EMS arrived. Firefighters helped move the occupant to a stretcher and into the ambulance. The fire crews stood by until the vehicles were moved from the roadway.

Firefighters from three stations responded at 6:30 a.m. Saturday, March 4, to Nortec at 1747 Cravens Road, to possible smoke coming from the building. The first crew to arrive investigated, opened the Knox Box and confirmed it was steam coming from the roof. The other units were canceled and the scene secured.

Firefighters responded at 9:55 a.m. Friday, March 3 to an accident involving a partially submerged vehicle on North G Street south of Peach Street. The driver was trying to turn the vehicle around when it ran off the road into the ditch. Firefighter Joshua M. Buhler removed the occupant from the vehicle. After the wrecker pulled the vehicle from the ditch and the street was cleared, the crew cleared the scene.

Firefighters responded at 7:26 a.m. Friday, March 3, to a motor vehicle accident with no injuries at Poplar Bluff R-1 Middle School, 1308 Victory Lane. While in route, the crews were notified it was a minor accident. One crew was canceled and the second made contact with the Poplar Bluff police. No transport was needed. Butler County EMS also was present.

Firefighters responded at 4:57 p.m. Thursday, March 2, to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center Behavioral Health, 2520 N. Westwood Blvd., to a heat detector activation. Upon arrival, crews learn the alarm was due to a malfunction in boiler room. Maintenance removed the boiler room from the alarm loop and placed security on a fire watch while repairs were being made.

Firefighters responded at 4:28 p.m. Thursday, March 2, to The Manor on Barron Road for an alarm. While en route, crews learned it was a non-emergency. No fire was showing, and a nurse said a resident had activated the pull station and there was no fire.
