Poplar Bluff Firefighters responded at 10:41 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, a possible accident at 3051 N. Westwood Blvd. No accident was found.

Firefighters responded at 10:44 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, to a possible structure fire at 624 Kinzer St. While en route they were advised it was the parking area behind the apartment complex. Upon arrival the crew found a fire in a plastic trash can and a pile of clothes burning in front of the dumpster. They used 5 gallons of water to extinguish the fire.

Firefighters responded at 5:26 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, to an outside trash fire at 934 Park Ave. Firefighters found a large pile containing burning bags of household trash in the backyard. Contact was made with resident Cassie Price about the burning ordinance and mandatory trash pickup. The crew used 20 gallons of water to extinguish the fire.

Firefighters responded at 6:46 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, to 805 Apple St. Resident Steve Johnson said he had a spot near his exterior door where he had accidentally melted a small spot of vinyl siding earlier and asked firefighters to make sure it hadn’t burned the wood underneath. The crew used a thermal imaging camera to check the spot and nothing was found.

Firefighters responded at 11:16 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, to an unauthorized burn in the 600 block of Kinzer Street. Crews found an unattended fire burning in a vacant lot where a house demolition had taken place. Firefighters used 50 gallons of water to extinguished the fire. Poplar Bluff police were on the scene.

Firefighters responded to Bomgaars, formerly Orscheln Farm and Home, located 2235 N. Westwood Blvd., at 12:36 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5. Bomgaars’ manager called to report the alarm panel outside showed it had been tampered with. By the time the crew arrived it had to normal.

Firefighters responded to a motor vehicle accident with injuries at 5:40 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, at 1471 N. Westwood Blvd. Firefighters check the occupants of the two vehicles. One person was transported to the hospital by Butler County EMS. The occupants of the other vehicle refused medical treatment.

Firefighters swept debris form the roadway. Rushin Towing and Casey’s Towing removed the vehicles.

Firefighters were dispatched to a possible structure fire at 6:49 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, in the 400 block of Bearden. Stations 1, 2 and 3 responded and found an unauthorized burn at 2024 Alice St. Station 3 was canceled and the remaining crews extinguished the fire with 20 gallons of water.

Firefighters responded at 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, to an unauthorized burn in the 600 block of Kinzer Street. They found an empty lot with a couple of small fires in an attempt to clean the lot. They extinguished the fires with 100 gallons of water.

Firefighters responded at 11:28 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, to smoke in the area of Don and W. Victor streets, and possible unauthorized burning. They found smoke in the area but no unauthorized burning. They were unable to locate the source of the smoke after circling the area two times.
