Firefighters responded at 2:41 p.m Friday, Feb. 24, to a motor vehicle accident with injures at 844 Hart St. The single vehicle accident at the corner of North Main and Hart streets involved the vehicle, a power pole and a tree. The patient had a large open wound on his knee, which firefighters dressed and applied pressure to until Butler County EMS arrived and took over the patient’s care. They assisted loading the patient. Utilities arrived to check the power pole. The tow company removed the vehicle and all fire units cleared the scene. Poplar Bluff police were also at the scene.

Firefighters responded at 3:53 p.m Friday, Feb. 24, to two-vehicle accident with no injuries at 303 S. Westwood Blvd.

Firefighters responded at 4:45 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, to 616 Kinzer St. to a structure fire, which turned out to be an unauthorized burn. Crews arrived at the scene to find two small fires of building materials from a house that had been torn down. The firefighters used a booster line and 20 gallons of water to put out the fire. The property is owned by Katherine Pinkston.

Firefighters responded at 5:20 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27, to 1322 Meadows Lane and Pershing were there was an attended fire with natural vegetation. They explained the city ordinance on burning and cleared the scene.

Firefighters responded at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 27, to 2208 Ryan Drive to assist EMS with a patient on the floor. Butler County EMS and the Poplar Bluff Police were at the scene. Firefighters and police were able to force entry through the lock. EMS took care of the patient. All units cleared the scene.

Firefighters responded at 1:02 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27, to 2201 N. Westwood Blvd. to assist EMS. The person who had fallen had been transported by EMS and 75 gallons of water to clear the scene.

Firefighters responded at 4:40 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, to Wilson Apartments, 444 N. Main St., to a smoke detector activation. Upon arrival, the crews learned it was an unintentional activation.
