Firefighters responded at 3:01 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, to an unauthorized burn at 934 Park Avenue.

According to Capt. Kevin D. Edgar’s report, the fire crew found a pile of trash burning in the residence’s back yard. Edgar made contact with someone in the home and advised them of the city burn ordinance. The firefighters used 20 gallons of water to extinguish the fire.

Poplar Bluff Firefighters responded at 6:11 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, to a smoke detector activation at 2608 Shady Lane.

According to the report by Lt. Justin R. Maddock the alarm company called en route to say the homeowner said steam from the shower set off the alarm. Firefighters met with the homeowner who stated it was steam from the shower that set the alarm off. There was no smoke inside the house and the alarm had been reset.

Firefighters responded at 12:07 a.m. Friday, Feb. 24, to the odor of smoke in the 1400 block of Vincent street. Capt. Justin D. Moyers said, he noticed a light haze of smoke but the crew was unable to locate the source after circling the block three times.
