Poplar Bluff firefighters responded to an unauthorized burn at 3:18 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20, at 1918 Wallace St. Upon arrival firefighters found trash and leaves burning behind the home. They extinguished the fire with the booster line and 10 gallons of water.

Firefighters responded to two smoke scares at Southern Care and Comfort In Home Agency, 120 N. Broadway, at 8:02 a.m. and again at 4:38 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21.
According to Battalion Chief Thomas L. Lane at 8:02 a.m., the occupants heard a pop and smelled smoke. The firefighters checked the business with thermal imaging camera and narrowed the smell down to a light ballast. The fire crew advised an electrician check the ballast.
At 4:38 p.m., two fire crews responded and smelled smoke upon entry. After checking the attic with the thermal imaging camera, they found nothing. They checked a light in the office and found a light ballast was bad. They were advised to call their electrician.

Firefighters responded at 4:20 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, to a motor vehicle accident with no injuries at Revive Resale, 441 53 Highway.
According to Capt. Steven Burkhead, upon arrival, the crews found a vehicle had struck the building with no injuries to the occupants in the vehicle or any damage to the structure.

Firefighters responded at 1:34 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, to a two-car motor vehicle accident with injuries at Shelby Road and Raider Way. Firefighters checked for injuries and controlled traffic.
Butler County EMS and the Poplar Bluff Police Department were at the scene.

Firefighters responded at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, to a passenger vehicle fire in front of Rest One, 109 S. Westwood Blvd.
The first fire crew to arrive and started putting water from the bumper line in eh engine area of a red Ford Ranger. The second crew used the battery operated spreaders to open the vehicle’s hood. After the fire was out, Poplar Bluff Police was called to assist the vehicle owner in getting home. The tow company arrived to transport the vehicle. Fire crews used 200 gallons of water to put out the fire.

Firefighters responded to an unauthorized burn in the 500 block of Ninth Street at 11:40 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21. Battalion Chief Thomas L. Lane reported they found the resident burning yard waste and a little trash. The resident was advised of the city’s burn ordinance and to not add any more trash.

Firefighters responded at 8:10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, a motor vehicle accident with injuries. Also at the scene were Butler County EMS, Missouri State Highway Patrol and Poplar Bluff Police Department.
According to Battalion Chief Stacy Harmon, the two crews of firefighters helped clean up the roadway and block traffic.

Firefighters responded at 12:55 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, to 100 E. Pine Blvd. under the Black River Bridge to a report of an unknown fire. They contacted a Poplar Bluff police officer in the area who said he could not find a fire. Firefighters checked the area and could not find a fire either.

Firefighters responded at 3:37 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, to a motor vehicle accident with no injuries at Sunset Drive and Westmoor Drive. The crew stood by until the vehicles were removed from the roadway.

Firefighters responded at 3:35 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, to 707 N. Ninth St., to a motor vehicle accident with unknown injures. When they arrived there was no wreck. Another wreck was reported at Sunset and Westmoor Drives and that was determined to be the wreck they were meant to be sent to.

Firefighters responded at 3:46 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, to a motor vehicle accident at Pine and Westwood Boulevards.
According to Battalion Chief Stacy Harmon’s report, the crew found a two-vehicle accident with one person still in a vehicle and assisted the patient until EMS arrived. The person decided not to be transported to the hospital.
