City firefighters responded to a call at 1206 Grand Avenue Sunday, Feb. 14, and found a vacant building fully engulfed in flames. The fire was extinguished and a search for occupants found none. The owner showed up and confirmed the house was vacant. Firefighters used 5,000 gallons of water to put out the fire.

City firefighters responded to a call about smoke in the vicinity of Johnson and 2nd streets on Monday, Feb. 15. When they arrived, they discovered steam coming from the generating plant.

City firefighters responded to a call about a vehicle accident at 1500 North Main Street Sunday, Feb. 14. Four occupants were outside the vehicles when firefighters arrived. Firefighters remained on scene until the vehicles were removed.

Poplar Bluff firefighters responded to an alarm at 3100 Oak Grove Rd. Saturday, Feb. 13, and were told the alarm was actually from the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center Behavior Health at 1610 N. Westwood Blvd. A security guard said the alarm was pulled by a resident and had already been reset. Firefighters advised the hospital needed to contact the alarm company and report that the alarm reported the wrong address.

City firefighters were called to 310 W. Victor St. Saturday, Feb. 13, where they found a shed fully involved. They extinguished the fire and cleared the scene.

City firefighters were called to 928 Park Friday, Feb. 12, and found occupants burning trash in their back yard. Firefighters informed the occupants about the city’s burning ordinance then cleared the scene.

City firefighters were dispatched to 1800 N. Westwood Blvd. Friday, Feb. 12, on a report that someone needed to be extricated from a motor vehicle in an accident. They arrived on the scene and found the vehicle unoccupied.

City firefighters were dispatched to assist EMS at 1012 Arkansas Ave Friday, Feb. 12. When they arrived, they found the occupant had fallen on ice and needed help. They assisted the occupant back into the house and cleared the scene.

City firefighters responded to a vehicle fire at 1813 S. Broadway Friday, Feb. 12. They found an ambulance on fire in a back lot and used a bumper line to extinguish the fire. The ambulance had just been involved in an accident. Police secured narcotics from the ambulance and firefighters cleared the scene.

City firefighters received a call about a truck in the river Wednesday, Feb. 10, at Ashcroft Road and County Road 607. Chief Ralph Stucker responded and found Missouri State Highway Patrol and Butler County Sheriff deputies on scene. The truck’s driver was out of the water and safe.
