__Poplar Bluff Fire Department__
Poplar Bluff Firefighters responded to a two-vehicle motor vehicle accident at 4:46 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, at Second and Vine streets.
Everyone was out of the vehicles and no one was injured. The crew remained at the scene to help block traffic until the disabled vehicle could be towed. The Poplar Bluff Police Department was at the scene.

Firefighters responded to a reported structure fire at 9:13 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, at North Main and Mary streets. When firefighters arrived they located smoke coming out of a single wall stove pipe running through a basement window of the structure at 1127 N. Main St. giving the appearance of the house being on fire.
According to Battalion Chief Stacy Harmon, he made contact with the occupant, Chelsea McKnight, and advised not only was the situation dangerous, but it was against building code. The thermal imaging camera was used to check for fire. This was the second time the department had been at the residence. The fire was extinguished. Nine firefighters responded to the scene.

Firefighters responded at 10:56 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, to Vine Street Apartments, 438 Vine St. to assist a resident who had fallen from her chair and needed assistance in getting up.

Firefighters responded at 3:13 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, to Southern Bank/Southern Insurance, 2991 Oak Grove Road to remove victims from a stalled elevator. The elevator was stuck halfway between the first and second floor with two people inside. Firefighters shut down the power, manually opened the elevator door and helped the two trapped occupants out of the elevator.
Five firefighters and the Poplar Bluff Police Department were at the scene.

Firefighters responded at 3:15 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, to 2914 N. Westwood Blvd. to an unknown fire. Upon arrival, the crew learned it was authorized controlled burn of leaves and limbs. They spoke briefly with the man burning the yard waste and cleared the scene.

Firefighters responded at 12:03 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, to an alarm at Poplar Bluff Regional Mental Health, 2520 N. Westwood Blvd. The five crew members were notified a patient had pulled the alarm.

Firefighters responded at 6:48 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, to an unauthorized burn at 923 Cedar St. Firefighters arrived to a small fire in the front yard, the structure was not in danger. Firefighters used 20 gallons of water to put the fire out. When the crew tried to make contact with residents, the carport door had been forced open. The Poplar Bluff Police responded to the scene and checked the house. The basement door and the carport door were closed as well as they could be closed.

Firefighters responded at 9:33 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, to 714 N. 10th St. to an unauthorized burn in the backyard. After talking to the resident about the city ordinance about burning trash as well as burning after dark, the resident put the fire out.
