__POPLAR BLUFF FIRE DEPARTMENT__
Poplar Bluff firefighters responded at 3:10 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, to a report of a fire alarm sounding at the Poplar Bluff Junior High School, 550 N. Westwood Blvd.
According to Battalion Chief Stacy Harmon, while the four firefighters were in route they were advised a maintenance worker had hit the pull station with a ladder and caused the alarm to sound. Two firefighters canceled and the others made contact with the school officials to make sure the alarm was reset.

Firefighters were notified by a passing motorist at 5:20 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, there was a large fire burning at 2227 West Maud St. near the Poplar Bluff R-I bus garage.
Battalion Chief Stacy Harmon reported three firefighters went to the area and found a large brush pile with some building materials mixed in burning at the address. They made contact with the occupant, advised him of the burning ordinance and used 250 gallons of water to extinguish the fire.
Bruce Peterson was listed as the property owner.

According to Capt. Chad Bell’s report at 5:53 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, firefighters were dispatched to the 300 block of West Henry Street to a structure fire. They found nothing and started a block search. Dispatch made contact with the reporting party and updated the information, stating the fire was at 301 W. Henry St. in the back of the structure with flames coming from a window. Entry was made into the abandoned structure and there was no signs of fire at the residence. Firefighters went to the address of the reporting party and it was determined there was no incident.
A total of seven firefighters, Poplar Bluff police, Municipal Utilities and Butler County EMS had responded to the area.
